William, I'd like to think I'm your friend in a small way too. I mean this in the kindest way possible: You've got to pay back the people who pre-ordered something that won't be made available.
Now for *ME* it's Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is time! You gave me a copy of Wusikstation free in return for a little work. It was far too much for so little on my part, and I feel I owe you. So I'm reserving the cost (as of the last GB) of what you gave me out of my next paycheck. If you'll assure me that you will take care of refunding pre-orders, I'll accept your word of honor, Put My Money Where My Mouth Is, and send my little bit in early next month. Whatever else is going on I owe you that.
(If anyone else thinks this is naive on my part, maybe so. I've been naive before and will be again, no doubt. But this course seems right to me.)
I want to see Wusikstation survive, and I want to see you in better times. Can't speak for Sickle but I think he does too.
[edit] wow, the thread grew while I was typing, or I wasn't looking at the last page... references to previous posts lost.. ah well, let it stand.

That's a very lead-by-example effort you're making, and innocent-until-proven-guilty as well, and that in an atmosphere that has been clouded by a Christian (not mentioning names) who didn't do the right thing.

there are many reasons to open source it.
and no one person would be paying 12000, many people would be paying a little bit, for the return of having done something good for the world, and the possibility of having this wonderful piece of kit continued and expanded upon by who knows how many devs and sound designers. A linux version would eventually come out of it, jack / alsa ready.
There should be an open source format capable of competeing with the other sample engine products like kompact etc. Someone contact AGNULA and see what could be done to replace the vst spec in order to make it FS compatible, then it could be included in the demudi package.
This is all supposition, yes. But POSSIBLE.
There are many misconceptions about opensource. way too many.
If you are very commercially minded, or have been indoctrinated by US style capitalist dogma then you will not understand easily, but I know there are many that see the real value of doing this. The assumptions about wk's morality are not important when speaking of making a small personal contribution to enrich greatly the FS open source audio commmunity.
thank you, and good night!
