I'll bet if it's not going to be in v1 we can get them to get it in there eventually. I thought preset switching a least was a big thing for controllers? They have demoed a controller with preset switching at a trade show anyway. Considering how open the controller support is supposed to be it probably wouldn't be to huge a task for them to allow control of these "sub preset" type fields.

It's pretty interesting to think that you could almost assemble the features of an MPC right on an MPD or pad controller:

You could possibly control volume and pan of the last hit pad with two knobs as we talked about way earlier in the thread so you could mix your kit without looking at the screen.

You could possibly set up one of the pad banks to control the clip launcher and give you access to 16 different patterns in your drum machine track.

And now hopefully you could eventually set up a knob to switch through all your sounds of a particular category, and maybe even another knob to control the category your in so you can load whatever kind of sound you want.

Justin, thanks for the video. Wondering if you can answer something about controllers for me: Why are faders still on everything? It seems to me that faders, if they are not motion controlled, are much less useful than endless rotary knobs because you will always get that snap when you go to a different bank or move to a different track on intsrument?

In Reason I miss a big headroom, has bitwig a big headroom like Studio One and has it internal 64 Bit Audio processing and do the effects use oversampling against artefacts?

Is the step size of the parameters and automation bigger than 127 steps? How big is the max MIDI step size? As example in Studio One it is 10.000. How is the performance of the bitbridge, do it use more cpu? are there any cpu peaks?

can i use parallel processing? as example crossfading between dry/wet signal with a effect chain?...

-can I automate the on/off switches of third party plugins to save performance power and to use them when I need them? not only the bypass)
-if I edit midi and audio clips, is the changing also on the automations?

Yes, better than Studio One, more like Live.

I don't know

I don't know

Yes, it's floating point.

I don't understand the question - what is Midi Step Size.

I don't know - how should I measure that? It can't be disabled.

Not in my tests.

Yes

I don't think so.

You can select in the preferences that automation should move with the clip.

Well, as I said, I'm not into controllers... ;-)
And I don't have one of the deep ones - my BCF2000 just does the standard stuff.
Maybe Nectar can sponsor the Betatesters ;-)

Hey Thomas, I was just messing about in Live and remembered something. The info column in Bitwig displays info for all the selected clips right? So it lets you edit certain fields for all of them?

The situation I just ran into in Live was that I made a four bar long part with a few different tracks. Then when I was stopping and starting up again I realized it would be cool to have just the first 3 beats of this whole part looped as a sort of b section. So after copying them, I went into each clip and changed the time signature to 3/4 and the length to 1 bar.

So if I were to do this in Bitwig, could I just select all of them and edit them at once?

Yes, I just tried - this is pretty cool actually.
Lenght, Loop Point, Offset, Duplicate etc. all work on all selected clips.
But there's no per clip time signature so this wouldn't be aplicable.

It's tough to get a clear shot of the P1's display or the Polysynth's GUI on my computer screen. I think I need a more sophisticated setup than my iPhone for video.

Thanks for answering,sir! :)

Someone knows the other points, please?

-Sorry, not MIDI step size, I mean this: Studio One MIDI controller and tempo resolution:
External MIDI devices now have an adjustable MIDI cc transmit rate (range: 10 - 100 ms). Enhanced Tempo Resolution (Song Tempo and Tempo Changes now accurate to 1/10000 of a beat)

-
You can select in the preferences that automation should move with the clip.
but if I cut or crop a midi or audio event, does the automation follow the clips? Or if I delete a clip, do the automations delete too?

Please please answer! This would be so nice! :)

-Some more question about automations:
1.Can I rename automations?
2.Can I link parameters of third party plugins to macro knobs, rename them and automate them? 3.And are the names, displayed in the header of the automations, also changed, if I rename the macro knobs? (important for overview!)
4.And is automation, per note automation and velocity information copied to other clips if midi is moved to another field or channel?

-Some questions about mixer:
5.Can I route also send channels to busses? 6.Can I change the order of the channels? 7. Can I change channel color? 8. Can I send channels to multipel destinations?

Finally questions about the arrange view:
9.If I bounce to place, are also the inserts rendered or uses it the same signal flow as the midi? 10.Are there volume fade-ins and -outs for single audio clips and clip volume? 11.Is there a shuffle mode, where I can insert parts somewhere where it is no room?

Some questions about the MIDI Editor:
12.Can I invert the selected midi horizontally or just vertically?

Some additonal questions:
13.If I save a project, are the used samples of the plugins and in the arrange view are saved with the host if I want? because samples are deleted or moved sometimes....
14.
64 Bit Audio processing and do the effects use oversampling against artefacts?
please, someone knows? it is really important for me!

...and can I duplicate sound layers?

Thank you Thomas for the information about the instruments and the preset list.
