However, the reason I wanted Alchemy in the first place is partly because of its capabilities for advanced and deep sample manipulation (billing itself as the "ultimate sample manipulation synth"). Does anything in Reaktor stack up to a similar degree as the lost plugin everyone seems to be mourning?
To me, it does. You can even create your own instruments with it as well :)
Well, sounds interesting - and looks interesting as well. I already have Max for Live, and while I don't know how to write anything in it (yet?) I have a growing number of devices. Putting both together could be a potent mix :)
There you go. :tu:

With both you can haz sonic mayhem. :)

No unfortunately not. There are lots of granular synths that are just as interesting or more so than that aspect of Alchemy, but not in the additive or spectral resynthesis capabilities.

There are many many tools. Perhaps not all-in-one swiss-knives, but focused and implemented well.
'Ruhr' might be an example of the larger plugins available, the ensemble won't fit on my old monitor, so not personally experienced it.

Also from the closed beta email chain.. looking through those 10 year old messages is kind of strange.. some of the names aren't with us anymore... Such as Tim..
WOW..Camel space finally here

actually, I almost consider this my baby as well, as it was last year sometime I sugged to Ben that he should do an effects version of the effects in Cameleon, as the new reverb and delay were pretty good. Camel space was the result. I have been using the beta version for a long time now. i find it a usefull all-in-one effect unit. I think it should be marketed that way as well. You won't need a ton of seperate effects, just Camel Space.

I hope the community doesn't mind me sharing the above.. parts of audio history that would otherwise just disappear unknown..

I certainly don't mind it. All this outpouring of posts and different opinions/emotions in response to CA's demise is a positive thing AFAIC. It's a testament to their legacy and it feels like some sort of turning point...well, at least to me.

I wonder how/if this will affect Alchemy Player CM? Wonder if CM magazine will discontinue distribution of it?

'Demise'? The status is still an unquantified entity in this case. They may be riding the crest
of a new wave, that has simply yet to be announced.

They might be but CamelAudio as an entity looks to be toast.

im not the only stupid dude having the taskbar on top.
why nobody of the devs is thinking about that? lots of prblems with programs not showing the title name of the window under the taskbar. :x best example is pigwit.

wasnt aware CS was created fromt he C5000 alogorithm stuff and the gui too.

if you ask me this was a planned for some months.
i was wondering about november why the CamelCrusher was added to my account too. it was there before, only added somewhere between august and sept i think.

and i remember that they said the Updater they created was there to backup things easier.

adding another theory, maybe Ben wanted to switch scenery - i mean scotland could get a bit boring after all time? and he decided to end CA in Scotland and move out into the world, but it was a hazzle to take the whole biz with him, so he decided to end CA and will found a new company?
dunno just an idea i had after my rainy night walk ... :dog: :hihi:

I suspect they might. I'm trying to find out.

I thought that was kind of weird. :hihi: I was wondering what the hell all that was on the top. Thanks for clearing that up. I always keep it on the bottom myself.

Meanwhile, the most prolific thread in KVR history about the sudden death of Camel Audio some how shifts into a full blown "Do You Keep The Taskbar On The Top Or On The Bottom?" flame thread.
