I still think the voice stealing is odd. When I make a polyphonic swell pad with slow filter and amp attack, play a 3-note chord and then 2 totally different notes, it sounds as if the attack is missing.
Anyway, for pads I don't really like Legend, it sounds harsh to my ears.

I have to agree. I'd love to see another synth that has the same "Mojo" (yes, undefinable term) as The Legend but with all the feature requests that people want tacked onto Legend.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Just to be clear:
1. What I was suggesting was making a whole new plugin based on The Legend with extended features
2. What makes The Legend and Repro-1 so good is the quality of the oscs, filters, envelopes, etc. and how they all interact. A lot of "generic VA's" just don't sound as good. So yeah, asking for a new synth based on The Legend but with much more expanded features might be "just another VA" but I bet it would sound better than most other VA's. But yeah, the synth I described would be very close to the Moog in Diva, but then again, I mentioned that in my original post, so it's not like that concept was lost on me either.
More Polyphony, PWM, Hard Sync, etc etc etc. It wouldn't be an emulation of anything but just a good honest VA that can pass the "Three Note Test". When I first learned Legend was going to be another VA I thought to myself "Oh no not another VA, there are so many already". But I played about three notes on it and The Legend just jumped out and grabbed me..."Woa there's something really special with the way this synth sounds". So a more feature rich synth from Synapse that grabs me after just three notes like The Legend did would be most welcome here and I'm willing to bet would be a good seller as well......
Of course SA will do what they think is best and rightfully so....all we can do is wait to see what the future holds.

So you need MiniMonstaTeksonik wrote:I have to agree. I'd love to see another synth that has the same "Mojo" (yes, undefinable term) as The Legend but with all the feature requests that people want tacked onto Legend.

Try the RR Note Priority option.fluffy_little_something wrote:I still think the voice stealing is odd. When I make a polyphonic swell pad with slow filter and amp attack, play a 3-note chord and then 2 totally different notes, it sounds as if the attack is missing.
You don't really like anything except Hybrid 3 and it's one of the harshest synths I own for Pads.fluffy_little_something wrote:Anyway, for pads I don't really like Legend, it sounds harsh to my ears.

No, you need to pay attention to what people write..........Numanoid wrote:So you need MiniMonstaTeksonik wrote:I have to agree. I'd love to see another synth that has the same "Mojo" (yes, undefinable term) as The Legend but with all the feature requests that people want tacked onto Legend.
The synth I'm talking about would be nothing like MiniMonsta........

So make a post summing it up then!Teksonik wrote:I have to agree. I'd love to see another synth ... with all the feature requests that people want tacked onto Legend.

Where are Pulse Width Modulation and Osc Hard Sync on MiniMonsta ? Go back in this thread and read all the other feature requests from other people. Even then MiniMonsta would not have the same character as the Synapse synth suggested. Certainly that can't be hard to understand ?Teksonik wrote: PWM, Hard Sync,

The Legend is supposed to be the state-of-the-art analogue modelling [Mini-Moog], but with all the bells and whistles users want added, it seems they rather want Dune II/AntiDote insteadTeksonik wrote:Like I said, pay attention to what people write.......

RR makes no difference. The second chord drops in like a stone. UgliestTeksonik wrote:Try the RR Note Priority option.fluffy_little_something wrote:I still think the voice stealing is odd. Well, I have returned to and rebought Sylenth1, actually
Still, with the right settings even Hybrid 3 sounds softer than Legend. I think the Minimoog and hence Legend oscillators are simply not ideal for polyphonic sounds. I assume they were made for power to begin with, being a monophonic synth...

It's a good sign that people have feature requests for any synth. It means they like the core sound and simply want more of a good thing. That's the case here with The Legend and requests for an expanded feature set.Numanoid wrote:The Legend is supposed to be the state-of-the-art analogue modelling [Mini-Moog], but with all the bells and whistles users want added, it seems they rather want Dune II/AntiDote insteadTeksonik wrote:Like I said, pay attention to what people write.......
The suggested synth would fit between the features sets of The Legend (needs more poly, hard sync etc) and DUNE 2 (no 8 layers, no Wavetable scanning etc).

And yet KVR users want moreThe Legend marks new territory in analog modeling technology. Every component, ranging from the voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), voltage-controlled filter (VCF) and voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA), have been modeled to an accuracy never seen before in software.

You realize that The Legend is only 4 note Polyphony right ? As opposed to Sylenth which has:fluffy_little_something wrote: Since I use a lot of chords progressions where consecutive chords partly overlap, I have not found a replacement for S1 so far. And Legend is an outright catastrophe in this respect.
"16 Notes of polyphony, which adds up to a total of 512 simultaneous oscillator voices and 32 filters in realtime".
Or maybe you don't realize it and just like to bitch about things........
You are nuts.fluffy_little_something wrote:Still, with the right settings even Hybrid 3 sounds softer than Legend..
Ok so you don't like The Legend, fair enough. No need to visit this thread any further. See Ya....

Of course we want more of a good thing. But then many of us actually use synths and just don't talk about them at KVR.Numanoid wrote:And yet KVR users want more![]()

Maybe a Model 15 would be a good start.Teksonik wrote:I have to agree. I'd love to see another synth that has the same "Mojo" (yes, undefinable term) as The Legend but with all the feature requests that people want tacked onto Legend.
This could then be further developed into a full blown System 55...

Exactly, that is my point. 4 voices is not much better than monophonic in my view. As soon as you have some release on the patch, you are bound to have ugly note chopping.Teksonik wrote:You realize that The Legend is only 4 note Polyphony right ? As opposed to Sylenth which has:

I do like Legend, for monophonic sounds like basses and old-skool leads.
And yes, I do think Hybrid 3 sounds warmer on pads, regardless of the voice stealing. I have only said so because you brought up Hybrid 3. So, if you don't like such comparisons, why do you force them on me?
