Same here - crashes Ableton Live 9.7 on scan. I ended up activating in FL Studio. Or maybe I first installed the factory library content through FL Studio first, then activating (either in FL or Live). I don't remember the order. But whatever the first step is, I did that in FL Studio.junebug wrote:CRASHING ABLETON ON START

It's interesting to note that the scan in FL Studio also crashed, but didn't crash FL Studio, just Avenger itself. Which I then could actually open after the scan was complete, and then I got the setup window inside Avenger.
But once everything was set up and activated, it runs fine in Live.
But, if you only have Live - well, I guess see what support has to say...

Yes, I have a version of Ableton Intro here, 64 bit Windows 10, and just happened to see your post. I was working with Ableton Intro to try out something this morning and all was working well. I tried launching it 3 times just now after installing "Screaming For" Vengeance (JP cover looks like a big metal Falcon, I mean).
Sadly, I can't get Ableton Intro to work with the Install there in my plugins folder. Although it loaded into my Reaper DAW 64 bit. (Note that my library isn't finished downloading, but I doubt that matters..) During load, while it is evidently scanning the new plugins, it has a Windows error which says, rudely I might add; "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if it chooses to wipe your ass. Otherwise, find please some still undried leaves and dig a hole to keep warm until you get tired of waiting for help."
Microsoft sucks.
Incidentally, Reaper loads it, but since my library isn't downloaded I didn't try it after authorizing. But I notice that the only plugin Reaper found was the VST3i. Now, I'm sure there are other plugins in my Reaper Plugin Paths; and Reaper is peculiar in not allowing the name of the 32 bit, 64 bit and so forth to be named the same. So just now I did some checking, and found that Vengeance was placed in a VSTplugins\VST Plugins type duplicated path. I corrected that, moving it into the main VST folder, but kept the uninstall program it had created. Now Reaper shows both the VSTi and the VST3i (which the program put into my Program Files\Common Files\VST3i folder (which I didn't know I had...). But there is no 32 bit, even though I believe the program asked me where to put it... Not in the 32 bit folder I selected.
We need to find out from the company how to debug this. I moved the 64 bit VSTi into a temp folder and Ableton Intro loaded fine. Then I moved it back. It crashes again the same way. Also, if you move it from temp back to your plugin folder after starting Ableton, can't scan the Ableton plugins folder without crashing. Yow!

I'm actually in the process of upgrading the hard drive of my laptop so I will need to get rid of the system drive and reinstall windows. So I can safely do this and still use the same license file on this computer without issues? No need to "de-activate" or anything like that? I don't want to lose my 3 machines license as I have exactly 3 computers that I use for my work (1 studio pc, 1 personal laptop and a Mac Mini at home).msvs wrote: no problem here. You can use it on 3 machines. If you install new components this will not change anything. Deleting or formatting an OS will bring your authorization on this machine back.

Just demo'd Avenger briefly (well, as long as the demo let me
). Very impressive synth! I especially love the way modulations can be assigned per drag & drop, and that the intensity can be controlled directly on the assigned parameter. Also loved how you can set the slope of the envelopes per right click, i can only say that other developers can learn something from that, makes things very easy. I had a bit of a hard time finding things which should usually be immediately obvious, e.g. i had to search for the LFO's, the GUI seems a bit crowded, and, especially, on 100% size, it's too big for HD resolution, 80% fits just, and then, the font appears a bit blurry, and hard to read, which also makes it hard to read the parameter names, or values.
The sound of the oscillators is very good, sounds rich and "fat". The filters could be better IMO, while they sound good, i wouldn't say they sound "fantastic". At least, IMO, the latest generation of soft synths, and, especially, analog modelled ones sound better, have a nicer resonance behavior, self-oscillate, and have more "bang". They surely are ok though, and serve their purpose, i've heard much worse. I was a little bit disappointed that the wavetables do not consist of several waves (maybe i missed something), but rather can be formed via waveshaping controls. As i wrote, maybe i miss something there, but, the waveshaping makes it a tad limited, compared to having "real" wavetables. Oh, what i also loved was that you have the vibrato settings where you need them, in the oscillator section, and don't have to assign a LFO to it.
All in all, really, nice synth, and i'm sure this will get a lot of use for some.

Wish I could resize the UI in Logic. It won't fit on my screen. I can only grab the top corners but can't resize from there. =( Sounds great though!
Edit: I'm an idiot .. completely missed the little magnification icon in the top-left. Whoops!

Am I the only one that thinks $70 for a preset bank/expansion is a bit much? Seriously making me re-consider buying the synth since I generally like to buy some preset banks as well.

I had the Ableton problems at first too. I'm pretty sure it is only the VST3 version which crashes Ableton. Remove the VST3 plugin and reinstall with the older VST, and it should work. At least that did it for me...

Similar situation here but Studio1. Have to uninstall all vst2 and vst3 and reinstall just vst2.deastman wrote:I had the Ableton problems at first too.
