Eeep. I wouldnt have been interested in the ECR-1 anyway, but that's, erm, disconcerting regarding the company.imrae wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 7:10 amYou might want to take a look at the Modwiggler thread on Tasty Chips ECR-1: https://modwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic. ... &start=250whyterabbyt wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 12:04 pmYeah, I saw that one, but the spec says 12-bit ADC/DAC, which I found a bit surprising. Over here the ECR-1 seems -slightly- cheaper, and obviously the Hector is a bit wider, but far more flexible.elxsound wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 11:59 amI stumbled on a more expensive option (because everyone loves paying more)… ECR-1 Convolution Reverb Processor
I’m obviously still new to this, but it’s the only other one I’ve come across.
Bastards.
Basically the original ECR-1 has severe design flaws (noisy interference with display, non-user-upgradable firmware) and have passed on cost of rectifying this to users. After a few pages of trying to sell the improved version to disappointed customers, Tasty Chips representative leaves in a huff citing 'negativity'.

I can vouch for the MB 2S. I haven't tried the SE-02 (I didn't like the feel of it when I tried it for approximately 8 seconds at Knobcon a few years ago) or Minitaur for comparison though.cryophonik wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 5:36 am I’ve owned several different Moogs and currently have a Slim Phatty, but the Minitaur has me drooling a bit lately for a dedicated bass machine. Cost isn’t really a factor, but that said, the deal I can get on a Minitaur right now is actually quite a bit cheaper than an SE-02. The problem now is that I started watching vids on the Arturia Minibrute 2S and now that’s piqued my interest, too![]()
Minibrute can get really dirty, and really weird. It'll do a solid bass though for sure. I really like the sequencer, and find it fun to jam with the sequencer by interrupting it with the arp

That too... I still can’t make up my mind if I’d like to spend the extra $100 for the enclosure or put that towards a rack that can hold it.
I’m leaning more towards wanting to keep it portable, but I still might prefer getting another Pod with it instead of their enclosure.
I feel like the rack of the future should make each tier rotatable like the car lots (and obviously we have to ignore the whole cable thing for this fantasy to work).

even if i went with the enclosure (which is possible) at some point, in fact, when i purchase my mystery item, ill still need to lose the bug mod to make space for it on the tableelxsound wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 7:35 pm That too... if i get another rack, it also means more shelves...
so its a "no rush, ive held off on the pedal version this long...."

Having the pedal version it's no rush for me as well. haven't built my case yet and have quite a few modules in boxes. That said, I may order it
sans the case when I get home from work, saving the case for later. *shrug

Trying to get 8 simultaneous tracks from my mixer to the Akai Force via bus/aux outputs. Went with 3rd gen 18i8, could not get it working with clicks and pops all over the place, even though its class compliant. (same on the MPC's so its not the Force beta firmware)

Works fine with my PC (DAW) so went with an 20i8 2 gen which has the older mix control firmware and it works perfectly (phew)

so now when everythings playing along I can route 4 stereo/8 mono tracks through any hardware straight into the Force. Job done.

I find clicking and popping is usually an issue with a USB device that is sharing its hub with something else. Go into System Devices (assuming on Windows) and check the device causing the issue is on its own hub. Or by using Akai Force is all of this not on a PC?

Its all hosted by the Force so no PC. Theres no setup up in the Akai except choosing an audio device and clicking multiple inputs. I tried with the MPCs non beta firmware, tried without a hub, and its the same result…I opened the gen 3 mix control software to see if theres any buffers I could adjust in standalone but it looks pretty limited.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sat Sep 04, 2021 4:01 pm I find clicking and popping is usually an issue with a USB device that is sharing its hub with something else. Luckily the 20i8 was plug n play…its software has far more settings for the gen 2, dunno if that affects standalone, but theres no sound issues.
With disc streaming and multiple inputs the Force is making a great “dawless” hub…mixers great too, so money well spent this month. But folks are going to have to experiment with audio interfaces, even when theyre class compliant and basically the same brand just different generations

Glad you got it working. Don't think I'd like going DAWless myself, but it's cool to see all the different ways people interact with stuff

Ive split the studio half in half…one side dawless the other sides a daw setup
Theres advantages and disadvantages to both but as Abletons my daw and the Force exports and imports ALS files they can work together…can even have both sides going sync’d with Ableton Link…techs amazing nowadays
