Sorry, i forgot to say that i _love_ the Spectra's Concept! Spectra is really simply to understand but yet very powerful to create some very unique sounds and the CPU usage is extreme low compared to other VST synths. I love Spectra's GUI too btw!
To sum up my favourite Synths of the last 12 months (If anyone wants to know):
Linplug Octopus and Kjaerhusaudio Spectra (in no special order)

Thanx egbert. I just enjoyed the other one, too. This synth is really good. Versatile and clean sound.egbert wrote:Great demos guys - how crisp and alive is Spectra - really impressive.

I've been enjoying all the demo tunes myself (Fritz, your lead is fantastic). They turned out quite nicely, especially given the fact that Torben only asked for them yesterday.fritzman wrote:Thanx egbert. I just enjoyed the other one, too. This synth is really good. That says a lot about this synth's design. I had never seen the plug-in before yesterday morning, but it is so easy to use that I was patching sounds and composing music within minutes of downloading it. Never had to look at the manual at all. Plus, there are some very nice patches onboard (over 650!). Good job all around on this one.

Exactly, Scot. I had a very limited time for my demo's, but found Spectra very intuitive to work with, and certainly capable of a wide palette of quality sounds, from standard analog styled to more experimental timbres. I can't wait to play with the release version!Scot Solida wrote:I've been enjoying all the demo tunes myself (Fritz, your lead is fantastic). Despite similar good intentions, I just put it on the list.lavoll wrote:and here i was thinking "in 2006, I wont buy new synths, just focus on really learning the bunch i already have".... grrr.
The demos are okay -- I liked the Fritzman one in particular -- and I'll give the demo download a try later in the month.
I'm rather inhibited by the fact that this would be the most expensive synth I've ever bought (if I do), even on discount. It will thus have to prove it's the best so far.

Thanx Scot and Funky for the compliments! It's cool how the concept of this synth (easy to use plus outstanding sound plus versatility) turns out as an obviously good choice. I like it when things are easy to use but are capable of some cool stuff.
The demo tunes: I have no favourite there, it's a good variety on bord to show that Spectra is no one trick or one style pony. Great.
Best wishes, FRitz

Just got the full version - what a great synth! I'm honored to have my presets included along with the others by all of the very talented sound designers, it's a treat to hear what everyone else has done!
This synth will definitely be among my favorites...

I have two questions while trying the demo:
- Does anyone other like me have short noise bursts when switching presets ?
- Is this normal that the first preset of each category is silent ?

i enjoyed listening to the other demos too. all cool stuff...and it was good to hear that we all worked in different styles too.
im not having any problems with the first preset of each category being silent. they are all fine for me. however, someone else mentioned that problem too. as far as the noise bursts go, im not experiancing any severe. just either some clicks or a bit of leftovers in either the reverb or delay from the previous patch. but judging by what some other people are saying, it sounds like perhaps some are hearing more noise than others. torben says they are aware of the issue and they intend to fix it.
