And also, I like to use limiters on indivual tracks. For that application, you never want to boost everything up to 0dB. I usually go for -6dB, but with MPL, you can only reduce the gain by -5dB. Odd and annoying. The Voxengo Elephant gain structure is much better in this regard. Also, because the maximum gain boost is 5dB, you are forced to use the AutoGain for anything more. Odd and annoying. The only redeeming feature is the sound quality.

OK - I know the standard answer will be "but this is a mastering limiter". I personally don't care. I want to use the BEST limiter on my tracks - so I believe developers should forget the distinction between track and mastering plugins. There are only GOOD and BAD limiters. Please design them to be used for tracking - in other words, we don't all want to smash everything up to 0dB all the time.

Well yes, I did try Shift - I guess you are suggesting I try it again? I'm just saying there are much easier GUI's to work with. And I stand by my comments about it on a track. Smashing tracks up to 0dB is stupid.

If it makes you feel any better, I agree that I found the controls a tad coarse. And I just tried running the MPL on tracks, and man, this thing is really light on CPU!! You could use a lot of these (if you like limiters) at once, and it sounds really good.

I think I might pick this up for tracking!

The latency of MPL-1 is not good for tracking.
I suggest you TLs Pocket Limiter.
Low latency for live performance use (40 samples at 44.1khz = ca 1ms latency)

Haven't tried this MPL limiter yet, but as Supermax, i use pocketlimiter for individual tracks and it rocks simple and efficient

What are you talking about? Who said live performance? I ran MPL-1 on about 20 tracks, sounded great and there were no playback issues.

Thanks for the "tip" about Tls Limiter; never came across that super-popular plugin in my 4,000 posts here.

I am very tempted to get it, still I have to ask: would it make much sense for Ozone owners?

Hmmm...I guess I was sleeping during this MPL-1 release (or moving again). Just picked it up after demo - it's just what the doctor ordered for my newest limiter strategy - darn good! The bar has been raised on native limiters!

Actually, the last two inserts are post-fader (and EQ).

Yeah - it's a good one bduffy. I'm still learning it's sound but I think it's got some features and sounds my other MLs don't have. Combining a couple of mastering limiters sounds pretty nice on the stuff I'm doing at the moment. Torben

Combining them? Two MPL-1's or MPL-1 + something-else? How much limiting is enough?

EDIT:That's not supposed to sound aggresive or anything, just wondering.
