Thanks, that's what I thought. And this compressor is sounding quite good so far.andy_cytomic wrote: If you go through all the other times, it appears to be the closest multiplier to match them. [...]

i love the life in EagleComp!!
all 3 sound good to me!
so is that straight comp? no EQ or any thing?

Hey Subz. On the raw signal I used an 8 pole butterworth high pass at 75 Hz to make the "dry" signal, so the only thing you are hearing is the compressor. The EagleComp is a medium setting with a ratio of 4. I went for heavier compression on the other two so that they would stand out in the mix that they aren't indjsubject wrote:

very solid sound!! hunta has a very strong voice that needs control & silk has almost the opposite, & the eagle vocal goes from soft to strong
your comp dealt well with all 3 situations
i'm no pro when it comes to comprehension! i know basically what the controls do & use my ears for the rest
as a UAD1 owner (well former owner) the sound of this is on par with the fair child (well what i recall of it from my 14 day demo) & much better than anything I got from the LA2A!
your going to make me have to sell something now!
i look forward to the demo!!

I'm more impressed with this thing all the time. I tried re-creating some of the examples with various tricks I have but all failed to nail the same sound which means that the plugin is most likely unique and thus doesn't overlap any of my other compressor plugins (believe me.. I have em all!
)
Cheers!

Yeah, those guys have loads of tone and dynamics, they are great examples, thanks heaps Subz!djsubject wrote: very solid sound!! hunta has a very strong voice that needs control & silk has almost the opposite, & the eagle vocal goes from soft to strong. your comp dealt well with all 3 situations.
I'm no pro either, I haven't spent years using compressors, I just use my ears in the end as well and appreciate straight forward controls to use.djsubject wrote: i'm no pro when it comes to comprehension! i know basically what the controls do & use my ears for the rest
The UAD guys do a great job, hats off, they know how to do their stuff. I just prefer native plugins, and I hope there is a market for it.djsubject wrote:as a UAD1 owner (well former owner) the sound of this is on par with the fair child (well what i recall of it from my 14 day demo) & much better than anything I got from the LA2A!
Sell something? Hopefull you won't have to since I'm trying to keep the price down!djsubject wrote:your going to make me have to sell something now!

Hey bManic. I left the dry at the start so people could use their own comps and compare, for better or worse. I'm glad to hear that you think the cytomic comp is holding it's head highbmanic wrote:I'm more impressed with this thing all the time. To be fair to the LA2A, i wouldn't even consider it for these kinds of vocals. I don't think i'd be hestitating to use the 1176, though.. So don't "diss" the LA2A, sometimes its just wonderfull. Especially for the softer stuff.djsubject wrote: as a UAD1 owner (well former owner) the sound of this is on par with the fair child (well what i recall of it from my 14 day demo) & much better than anything I got from the LA2A!
About the Fairchild, oh man i've been happy for it on piano's once in a while. And accoustic guitars, there is nothing that even compares when talking about software based compressors. I've even been using it on sampled material, for instance the nylon-string guitar from Kontakt. It just goes hand-in-hand.
If i need that hard-compressed piano sound though, i'm going for the 1176(or perhaps the compressor in the 88rs channelstrip).
I'd really like to hear some squeezed piano's. Sadly, i'm still at holidays, and can't get near Kontakt or nexus. All it takes is some house chords with a little movement between the shifts, perhaps someone would be nice enough to smack something up? Just make sure to be controlled with the reverb. It should be there, but don't forget that the compressor will be pushed, and mark the tails up.
edit:
I forgot to comment the voice examples. It did a decent job, but you should have normalized the files to be fair. As subject said, the eagles examlpe quite nicely shows how it evened out the vocal level.

To the above question:
Also i forgot to say that i enjoyed the tracks on your myspace page, subz. Great vibe and sound, compared to most of the american crap in the radio nowadays (of course, no disrespect to the people who like it. I just don't. I don't dislike hiphop at all though, I find artists like 2pac and outcast completely and utterly amazing.)
The demo will be available at the same time as the main release, which will be in the first quarter of 2009 (hopefully early to mid but no promises),

Andy my friend i think its time to change your thread title to something like 'Cytomic Compressor'. Get interest brewing even more, its not FXpansion's software: its yours so get the Cytomic name out their mate
Just a thought

It's not him who started the thread. We'd need SWAN808 or a mod for that.NEKRO.MACHINE wrote:Andy my friend i think its time to change your thread title to something like 'Cytomic Compressor'. Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here.
