I'm still waiting for Runtwhiner's take on TG.
An idiot on Set Theory:

Exactly why it didn't elicit a response. Who wants a definitive answer when we can argue minutia to the point of absurdity?zerocrossing wrote:Do all you guys have me on mute? I quite clearly answered this question definitively a few times already.

I don't know. But it has always struck me as a rather fatuous thing to say.
Talking is a universal form of communication among humans. It has been used successfully to describe everything from the workings of a bilge pump to the construction of a computer to the stream of consciousness of a crazy person.
Dancing is much less universal. Nor is it a discursive form of expression.
Yes, I know I am being stupidly literal, but that sentence has always struck me as being far less clever than it's author seemed to intend it to be.
Sorry.

It was either Frank Zappa or Laurie Anderson, I've heard conflicting accounts.

Not at all, what I like about the quote is that it doesn't imply that you should or shouldn't do either. If you've noticed, I talk about music quite a bit. If I inferred that the quote meant you shouldn't talk about music, I'd be quite a hypocrite. From my perspective, there are some aspects of music that begin to lose a lot of their meaning once you start picking them apart.herodotus wrote:justin3am wrote: "Talking about music is like dancing about architecture."
