yup ;]
tho i think Josh Wink didn't use a TB303 on that track, but anyway, this kind of sound will be possible with Venom ;]

I honestly didn't know that. I find out a lot of stuff about artists who didn't use 303's on their tracks (like Etnica - Syntecno TeeBee)
Very good job on replicating the sound!

he did? hm.. unmodified 303?
i think the original tb303 didn't had that amount of reso? i might be wrong..
edit:

edit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higher_Sta ... ess_(song)The distinctive acid sound in the track is created with a Roland MC-202 synthesizer, and not a TB-303 synthesizer as is the norm with most acid house tracks

hey novaflash ;]
not yet, i'll probably start another thread here for the next (official) version, since it'll be different
don't worry, it's a freeware synth, i'll add it to SEG too everybody should have a 303!
on the first post i added the "plan" for the next version (and what i've done so far)
i was a bit busy these days now..
i don't want to use the Beta version myself yet in any of my tracks, since i know the newer version will be much much better (and hopefuly with less bugs)
so i'm doing this not just for me, but for all the guys who liked the synth!
i was just tweaking the envelopes (now they are better)
and i added some "life" to the filter ;]

i made a new distortion type, it's not yet finished tho (not optimized)
made this demo here, that sounds like the acidvoice demo of tb303 vs hardware clones
http://www.box.net/shared/14uuusbvuk
if this distortion is good, i might replace either the foldback or the soft type with it.. (next version will have 3 types again, so one will have to be dropped)
or not?
tell me which one should be thrown away:
hard / soft / foldback / <the new one>

Don't believe everything on wikipedia:) No but really, Josh told me himself. Also its possible to increase the amount of reso on the 303 by altering the voltage feed to the filter via trimpot. Btw nice work on Venom!antto wrote:he did? hm.. unmodified 303?

First: This looks really good! Nicely done esthetically, and thank YOU for offering it FREE... I've yet to be able to install/play with it, however, and from what I see here, I must admit I'm a bit confused about it apparently (?) not being able to store/save patternsantto wrote:RunBeerRun: well, there are no presets, the synth stores it's patterns in the VST Patch memory, so loading a preset will spoil you're work
and the whole point in a 303-like synth is tweeking it yourself, that's my opinion..
What am I missing here?
I'm looking forward to giving this a runthrough.
Thank you again.

You can check the documentation I've written (link on the first page) and that should answer every question you have about this current version.Shabdahbriah wrote:I must admit I'm a bit confused about it apparently (?) not being able to store/save patterns... what (exactly) does it "load" and "save" if not something "stored/save-able" or otherwise 'accessible'?
But to clarify: YES you can save patterns in files and load them at will.
noise and beats: Negutyv Xeiro do people actually click these?

when i did that distortion demo with the pattern from acidvoice, i noticed that my synth misses a "gimmick" when there is a note with slide, and the next note is with accent (normal note slides to accented note)
in the acidvoice pattern, the last two notes are just like that and my demo doesn't have that gimmick effect there
today i was looking around for the x0xb0x synth... it's really great, i want one.. anyways i found a comparison with the x0xb0x and the tb-303 - a verry nice audio demo..
http://www.ladyada.net/make/x0xb0x/samples.html <- here
while trying to recreate the pattern, i noticed the same lack of gimmick on slide-to-accented note thing.. and i also noticed another thing..
on accented notes (not slided) the VCA actually has a tail..
i did some changes and i got these now ;]
i also changed the gimmick and the envelope curves again, this time using the audio materials from acidvoice and ladyada
i'll upload a new audio demo.. but i like it ;]

erm, now actually i think i got more work on the gimmick.. i don't know..
these samples are recorded directly from the synth.. the previous samples had noise and HP filtering because i recorded them with the old PC from the new PC (two cheap sound cards were involved) i will no longer need this, i got LAN between them now ;]
also, publishing stuff to the net will now be easier for me..
i started a thread in hardware instruments forum, trying to find someone with a real tb-303 who would help me by recording some specific patterns and sending them to me, so i can analyze them and calibrate my synth.. still no luck there..

antto- in the dsp thread, you said you had submitted the filter code to musicdsp, but I don't see it...am I overlooking it, or has it just not been "moderated" yet? I'm really interested in seeing that...
