Thanks for the info Benjamin.

I'm sorta tied to using 64bit plug-ins, so I'll see what I can do with Guitar Rig to try to emulate what he's doing with those other amp/cab sims.

Really surprised he's using the Tele to get those tones.. usually all I get is "twang". I'll tweak it and see what I can come up with.

Also thinking some kind of forced gating might help to choke off the mutes a little faster.. need to hack away at it some more.

Native Instruments is about to release RAMMFIRE:
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... /rammfire/

The first audio demo there (Virgin Demon) is the sound I'm going for.

I went ahead and picked up Shreddage. It works as advertised. Fast, chunky chord/note mutes right out of the box.. with pretty much any amp/sim combo.

Unfortunately.. that's all it really does, so it's very limited.. and the whole instrument feels kind of quickly thrown together and unfinished. It's forcing me to learn how to program Kontakt to tweak/fix it. So.. I think they're charging a bit too much.

Anyway.. I hope Vir2 considers releasing a Metal guitar package, with that playing style in mind. There's really nothing else out there that can pull off that style very effectively.

Thanks again for the info and examples. I appreciate it. 8)

Hi everyone,
here is a pretty cool video showing Electri6ity playing solo guitar (very nice Holdsworth-ish legato style) done by Hans Scheffler:

Benjamin,
Could you please give us more insights into your and Javi's productions.
What basses and drums are used. How about eq and compression. It sounds like
Reverb and delays are a key element in these mixes.Javi is getting incredible
levels on Darknes.Which level maximizers do you guys like? Are you guys doing
everything inside the computer?I like What you are doing with guitar rig.
Any guitar rig tips you can share with us? My sounds are too dull or too
bright.too distorted or not distoted enough. When I try to match javi's treble
levels,The guitar sounds like it's frying in a pan of eggs?I have many amp sims.I'm curently Demoing the softube stuff and the overloud th1,which just went 64 bit.TH1 is suposed to work well with sampled guitars.
Thanks again for your support !

p.s. sorry for the long post.

Hi Bill45,

I already wrote some of the infos on the last page, so I'm simply copy and pasting them:

I think the secret to this fat tone is more the guitar/amp setting combination - and not so much the way you setup Electri6ity.

As far as I know Javi mostly used the freeware amp TSE X30
( http://www.theserinaexperiment.net/plugins.html ) with the freeware LePou Cab simulation ( http://lepouplugins.blogspot.com/ ) and the freeware overdrive pedal TS Secret ( http://www.bteaudio.com/software/TSS/TSS.html ) - but he also used Metal Amp Room (I assume for the leads or the bass).

As guitar he used the Startocaster tuned down quite a bit plus double tracking to get this massive sound.

Regarding the mixing/mastering I'm not sure what he is using.

But using the plugins above you'll be able to get at least that kind of guitar sound. The TX30 (which is basically a simulated Engl 530 pre-amp) is fantastic. But very important for the final tone is the used cabinet. Use the LePou IR cabinet with these impulses: http://catharsis.supremepixels.com/impu ... redman.zip (start with s-preshigh which sounds awesome with the TSE X30).

I hope this helps a bit!

Hi

I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but I don't have time to read all posts...

I've received Electri6ity this morning, great sound, everything's fine, except that there's a huge graphic issue...
The GUI shows faders everywhere instead of knobs.

Specs : Mac OS 10.6.4, Logic 9.1.1 (in 64 bits mode), Kontakt 4.1.1, Electri6ity update done

Did I mess something up?

Hi sleepless,

it looks as if the info.nkx isn't in the right place. Can you search for the info.nkx and tell me where you did find it?

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for answering.

I didn't have a file called "info.nkx"

But I have two files, one named "Electri6ity_info.nkx" the other "Electri6ity_info.nkc"

Both are in the folder Electri6ity Library.

Post

Hi Sleepless,
yes, sorry, of course. I meant those two.
Please copy the "Electri6ity_info.nkx" from the Electri6ity update to the library folder. Overwrite the old nkx. After that click on the small gear-wheel in the Electri6ity library tab on the left side inside Kontakt and select "Remove Library". Now add the library back with "Add Library" (locate the Electri6ity library folder and click "Ok".)

Let me know if that helped.
Cheers,

Hi Benjamin,

Reading your answer, I understand where I've messed up.

I've moved, after installation, the library to another HD, and the Content path in Libraries still pointed to the old one.
I've just had to use the Locate function, and done.

Thanks a lot for your help.

ok.. this is my first full track with electri6ity. It's pretty much Metal.. with a few synth parts thrown in for variety. all the guitars are from electri6ity.

it's a remix of Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers":
