Yep, WinXP here. But I have no transparency set for windows so the presetbrowser of Synth1 does this by itself.dbz wrote:You must be running something newer than Win98 then. When I open the preset window it's not blended and if I try to drag it, it closes the window. Doesn't XP allow you to blend any window, or is that Vista? I'm pretty sure it's part of the operating system - but in Win98 there's no such thing... remember way back? lol

>Higher polyphony
>at least 32, maybe 64 voices polyphony.
>Compatibility:
>Win7 64 (done?)
>Macintosh version
>VST3 standard
>Filters more like the Original Nord Lead 1
>a bit more aiming at the "nord lead" modulation
>smoother filters (but please include a mode, that reactivates "classic filters" if you include that)
>bind more parameters to the modwheel not just the LFO
>GUI:
>new GUI (some people offer to help)
>Custom Skinning
>Browsing presets:
>preset window would stay open while you look for a preset
>preset preview here is a suggestion: Single click to preview a preset, double click to load a preset.
>preset list change if you click on them instead mouse-over
>registry info in an "ini" file, in Synth1's folder - instead of using the registry
>Built-in reverb

It is my today personal opinion as follows.
>Higher polyphony
>at least 32, maybe 64 voices polyphony.
Implement of this function is not difficult.
It would be better to make it to the parameter of each patch.
>Compatibility:
>Win7 64 (done?)
I don't have devlopment environment for 64bit still.
priority is low.
>win98SE
sorry...priority is low.
>Macintosh version
I don't have macintosh.
Please don't expect it.
>VST3 standard
I don't understand the advantage of VST3 well.
It is thought that correspondence is necessary if VST3 becomes a main current.
>Filters more like the Original Nord Lead 1
>a bit more aiming at the "nord lead" modulation
I don't have Nord Lead1, so I don't understand it.
>smoother filters (but please include a mode, that reactivates "classic filters" if you include that)
Priority is low. However, the room for the over sampling remains in 24dbLOWPASS.
>bind more parameters to the modwheel not just the LFO
I want to do this by all means.
>GUI:
>new GUI (some people offer to help)
>Custom Skinning
I think that this is an attractive function. However, it seems to take time to mount.
>Browsing presets:
>preset window would stay open while you look for a preset
>preset preview here is a suggestion: Single click to preview a preset, double click to load a preset.
>preset list change if you click on them instead mouse-over
Priority is medium.
>registry info in an "ini" file, in Synth1's folder - instead of using the registry
Priority is medium.
>Built-in reverb
It is attractive.
I want to challenge some time though I do not have knowledge concerning the high quality reverberation.

How about ability to search presets by name?

Daichi, what programming language do you use? There is good reverb code available as open source (like jezar's freeverb, its C++). Maybe we can locate code for you to study.daichi1969 wrote:>Built-in reverb

The compiled requests didn't include my question: have the soundbanks in the browser automatically show the name of the associated preset folder. Maybe you can think about it

The new version works in linux, using wine, Reaper and Cantabile12lite, and the wineasio driver. Linux audio is very nimble on older hardware. And reasonably priced. Big magazine stores have several monthlies each with a dvd of distros and apps. Dual-boot is not a rocket-science anymoredbz wrote:I just gave that a try, but it didn't work. Is there anyway for this to work on Win98(SE)? I understand it if there's a major change to the sound engine (using SSE, etc.), but what happened? Talk about getting good news and bad news all at the same time.Yeager wrote:Download 1.07 ? ( see if it runs )and just replace the dll ( with 1.08 )?dbz wrote:I just tried running it without using "initsettings", just to see what would happen. It turns out, nothing happens. The dll doesn't seem to even load into the host program. So it looks like it may be more than just a registry issue. I hope that isn't the case. From the changelist, it didn't seem like anything that would warrant breaking support for Win98(SE)... but what do I know?
Cheers

No, that's a multiple file renamer. This is what I already have in Total Commander.chicken muffin wrote:why didn't you just use this. i think your gonna hate me...DragonSagoth wrote:OK FINALLY!

I had to multiple replace the first line in a lot of .sy1 files. Notepad++ helped a lot!
For example, the patch was called: JP8K-SUPERSAW. I had to edit the file internally (not its filename!), to name it to JP8K Supersaw. Looks much better. Notepad++ is licenced under GPL and comes standard with Total Commander Ultima Prime. Everyone should have it, it's brilliant!

Daichi, what do you think about these suggestions for Synth1? Others?

Thanks Daichi for the great synth!
I have just created some sounds for Synth1. They are mostly cheesy 80s italo synth patches and thus pretty basic but check them out if you are interested. Actually it's the first synth bank I have programmed. Love the simplicity of Synth1.
