The limitations they have make them demos, not free plugins. Petriod.

I'm quite new to this thread and I was reading it for a while. Interesting info.
@Nokenoku
I'm using some of the free plugins and I don't see any limitation, can you be more specific ? I see that's a big issue to you and I can't see it.

Interesting, would you mind sharing with us which ones do you mean? Because I think you can live without preset system or upsampling. If not, that 99% existing plugins are demos :D.

You mean that don't save presets ? Weird... in several DAWs it's saving the settings I'm making in a track...

ad1) I'd really like to know, where does he get the conclusion that Maximus has more features than MMultiBandDynamics.
Your plugin doesn't seem to feature saturation (& stereo sep but let's say this is not this plugin's normal job & mine is more a maximizer) and seems to have less control on the release curves (one release time & a couple of presets?).
It also doesn't show time vs compression feedback (which takes CPU to buffer when GUI is visible). It may not affect the sound, but it gets easier when you see what the compression is doing on a graph.

But the main reason I should be free to claim it's more featured than yours, is that I saw you pimping your plugins in all kinds of threads, like saying "MMultiBandDynamics is currently the most versatile". Well that's one claim, the most versatile, of ALL multiband compressors out there, is yours!
:D
ok so 1-6 bands with minimum/lp/hybrid crossover, 5 automatic release modes, 3 transfer shape modes, temp gain (including global), peak hold, rms length, band dry/wet, gate&compressor/expander (you can use shapes for it of course, but let's face it, this is much easier & accurate, especially in Maximus, where you see units somewhere completely else), upsampling, A-H presets, LR/MS/L/R/M.. processing, global preset system, you could compare the shaping systems, but I cannot do it right now, because I'm on Mac, and Maximus isn't on Mac.

It doesn't have the time view, that's true. But it has band & master gain reduction, which is usually enough. But I'm not saying the time view isn't nice.

And I pimped it a few times, because I believe it's true.

tony tony chopper wrote:
Not mentioning that this is a completely ridiculous argument, since claiming that set of features is the only factor, that affects performance, is simply crazy.
I didn't say that, I implied that bad programming was the other factor :)
Well, this is just sad, especially from a guy, who forgot to compensate phase in LR2 crossover... (yeah, and please don't tell people it doesn't matter, after you say it does matter. and I believe this is exactly the reason you made just 3 bands.)

The rest of your response is based on the idea, that -4dB peak filter isn't audible, which is obvious nonsense. In fact, I was listening to Maximus, which made me measure it to find out what's wrong with it.

And you should really find out what this is designed for, because if it is a maximizer, than it should have more bands (which wasn't possible for the phasing issues) and have completely flat response, because if you create -4dB peak, maximize it and saturate it!!!... well, it's original approach :D.

We should really stop this, because you are making me be honest, and I'd like to stick with things, that can be measured and proven...

Edit: Forgot to mention again your website:
Maximus will deliver transparent peak limiting and volume maximization without coloration of the processed sound. However, Maximus is much more than a pristine quality Mastering Maximizer, it's also a Compressor, Limiter, Noise Gate, Expander, Ducker and De-esser.

No no, of course this works. There is just a feature in all our plugins, that keeps all presets stored somewhere and available to access quickly between projects. You can usually do this using your host as well, but this is much quicker.

Yes, please lock it, this becomes just an offensive argue.

I've edited the post you quoted. I'm going to depend on YOU, the participants, to exercise your self-control, stay away from insults and slams, and otherwise keep from making the thread useless to readers who aren't involved in the kindergartenklopperei.

We'll see whether y'all can live up to the reliance being placed on you.

To be honnest I'm not arguing with him, I could care less of what he thinks, but he's the one making claims about his vs other plugins.
So to defend myself I can just say: download his plugin, try what I wrote using synthetic tones, and decide yourself if that's transparent. There's no magic, no zero-latency crossover can be.

Well, Meffy please close the thread. As you can see, I would need to reply to this, because we are moving in circles :D.

Well, I'm making a mixing AND mastering multi-band compressor that will rock the socks off of ALL of you. It's called MWaShock.

Some important features include per-pitch bands. That's right. PER-PITCH! And what is better is that this is automatic. My multi-band will AUTOMAGICALLY detect when a pitch is used and create a band for it. And it will do this in a TRANSPARENT way so you won't even know it did it.

We offer 47 different saturation models, each with the ability to be applied globally, to even numbered bands, odd numbered bands, or individual bands.

We feature the "MarsAttack" function, which is faster than any attack setting on any other compressor. MWaShock actually predicts your next attack based on the last 20 peaks in your production. If you play the same audio through MWaShock twice, it will remember the audio and automatically know when your transients are coming. The MarsAttack feature not only tames your peaks, but detects improper drum tuning before it gets to the rest of the compressor and adjusts your kit to be a perfectly tuned for any modern production.

MWaShock goes far beyond just offering soft and hard knee settings. You have the option of setting your right knee and left knee settings separately for those times when some idiot on the right side of the stereo mic configuration decided to blast out a solo while the rest of the band was jamming along. Also on offer is a new setting in the world of compressors, called the "WeeKnee". This lets you set a knee that will truly let your audio stick out in the crowd(more information soon- don't want to reveal any trade secrets!).

MWaShock offers a multi-stage compression. Forget New York Compression or "parallel" compression. MWaShock gives you 8 different compression threads for your audio to run through, each with their own pitch settings. Each thread has it's very own per-pitch bands.

There are no presets needed, though we do offer the ability to save them(no loading presets though). MWaShock takes your previous settings that you used in your last song, and automatically applies them to each band IF IT WAS USED in the previous creation. After all, a well-mastered album will have cohesive tracks that all sound alike.

We feature a "MagiRelease" setting. This is like an "auto-release", but only has one setting: On. We do this because you just can't compete in this music industry without a compressed record. So there is no reason for the compressor to turn itself off.

This is all just a taste of what is to come. I can hear you asking; how do you represent this all graphically? It's simple. MWaShock comes with it's own 42" computer monitor which allows you to see more of it's tabbed interface. This monitor has a special voice-recognition algorithm and microphone built in that recognizes pitch. All you have to do to bring up a band for a specific pitch is to hum that pitch or say it out loud. "Eb" will bring up all 122 parameters right away to your screen for easy editing.

Stay tuned......
My host is better than your host

Whauu, pretty interesting concept with the pitch-based-bands (though I'm not sure, how that would work with hidden fundamentals etc.). Anyway, are you serious, or this was a joke?? (I mean the 42" monitor :D).
