When a multi-layer preset is launched, you can't change its parameters.
For this you must enable it.

To make a layer writeable :
_ right click on a layer : makes it writeable, and only this one
_ Ctrl click on a layer : makes it writeable, but keeps the other already selected layers writeable
_ use the two bars below or above the layer tool bar . Below : all the layer are writeable. Above, toggle function.

Maybe some room for improving this part.

Hi,

Thanks for testing the Synthix.

When a multi-layer preset is launched, the layers are not writeable.

Seems that this part needs some more obvious features

When the -Init- preset is launched (or any no multi-layering preset), the Synthix is a "standard ?", "simple ?" synthesizer.
Click on the "more" button will show you the layer tool bar, with all the layer writeable (red). When you change a parameter, all the layer are changed.

If you select only one layer (right clic), then moving a knob will change only the select layer parameter. Then, the "more/hide" button vanishes and the simple preset is transformed in a multi layer preset.

Best regards
Xavier

Depends on the preset DjAnthonyW.

If its a simple preset using panel mode a la Synthex ( ie all layers have the same settings ) you should be able to edit it.

However if its a more complex preset you need to ACTIVATE the Layers you want to edit :

These are the general rules : If you dont see the 8 layers buttons press on MORE button at the right of the Xils Logo. ( above the delay tab )

Now you should see the 8 layers and you can use the following functions :

1/ Richt click on a layer : Activate a layer for edition
2/ Left click : Only select a layer and see the parameters. It eh layer is in editable mode the knobs and everything work

Additionally

3/ Shift + Right clicl : Activate continuous layers ( like 1 to 4 or 1/8 )
4/ Ctrl + Ricght click : Activate discontinuous layers ( like 1-3-5-7 )
5/ Press under the Layer BAR : Activate ALL layers
6/ Press above the Toggle bar : Deactivate layers wich were activated, and activate the ones who were not ( ie a quick way to go from 1/3/5/7 activated to 2/4/6/8 activated )

A layer is ACTIVE and as such is editable if you can see the RED RECTANGLE around its dedicated button.

Only ONE layer can be selected (with left click) and it will be displayed in DARK vs the 7 other layers.

It should take around one hour to get really comfortable with these settings and the layer managment. Then you should ( hopefully ) see it allows to handle very complex layering situations with the minimum hassle :)

At tone point I'll made a video tutorial for these layer selection techniques, cos on a video you can understand the whole thing in 5 minutes ( though it will take you some more to get really comfortable using it )

Ok this is IF you want to edit/Create complex multi layered instruments. If you take the init you are in simple mode and you dont see the layers, then the Synthix behaves just like an steroid Synthex, and you all edit all layers and all voices simultaneously with the help of the single panel.

Hope this helps and that its more clear :)

I just moved this from the last page:

Hi everyone,

While listening to Rendes-Vouz from JMJ and playing with the Synthix demo i tried to reproduce the Synth Brass from Fourth Rendes-Vous. I saved it as a screenshot as is in the demo i could not save the file.
With this preset and some drums from FXpansion Geist (with the BFD remix expansion) i just did some "noodling", like mostly without external effects:

I really hope that the Group buy will start today so i could get the full version.

Have fun,

So far pretty disappointing. It's PolyKBII with a grey skin. Not a very inspiring demo.

The joystick, as always is fun, every synth should have that.

I guess it depends on your expectations .

For me its not anything close to PolyKB2 , completely different sonic signature , and architechture . What were u hoping for ? Almost feels like u were waiting to be disappointed .

has anyone got the sync working? probably a dumb question, but to my ears that knob which is labeled "sync" does nothing to the sound, no matter if lit up or not.

U need to modulate Osc Pitch 2 to hear the sync effect . And transpose OSC 2 Pitch Up/Down to taste .

To Hear the Sync Lunatic Machinist :

First make sure that OSC 1 has a waveform selected and that its volume is not zeroed.

Then try assigning "something" like an LFO, or an enveloppe to OSC2 PITCH ( also labelled VCO2 PITCH )

Then OSC 2 also must have a waveform selected. The Triangle will give good results.

A good experience : Assign Mod Wheel to VCO 2 pith in the modulation Matrix. Then create a resonnant lead only with OSC1 settings+filter/filter EV aso.

Then while playing just make it scream using the Mod Wheel/

Works fine here while loaded up but crashes Reaper Win32 if I remove it from a track.

thanks. tuned in envelope sweeping the osc pitch 2, turned on the chorus and we got a big pulse sync lead on our hands, yummy. it does sound quite beautiful.

Saving presets & automating parameters would be super duper :P
