The litigation he refers to was most likely prior to Adobes acquisition of Macromedia (which did happen).ttoz wrote:i thought adobe bought macromediacareyletendre wrote:So far the similarities to Live are a little to close for comfort. They even had the gall to name them 'scenes'.
I remember when Adobe sued Macromedia over UI similarities and won.

I find the device chaining kinda interesting. In the example above... "Effects have nested device chains in locations which are particularly interesting for each device. For example, the delay allows you you insert effects inside it's feedback loop."
It was easy to glance at this and think it worked just like Ableton. However I noticed that area on the delay above width and mix which says "FX FB." Looks like the distortion which follows the delay is applying specifically to the feedback portion of the delay, not the delay's entire output. Guess I should have read it instead of glanced at it, because that is pretty awesome!

I'm using Ableton Live 8, because I use sampled instruments Omnisphere and Electri6ity, Slate SSD4. I cannot fit it all in the 3.2 GB limit live 8 has.
I was hoping for Live 9 but it's all rumours and guessing. Ableton have said nothing about their being a live 9 or 64bit version and they did a no show at NAMM. Their silence for over a year has me very worried So soon as Bit Wig is available I'm gona demo it.

So... no new news from the Wigs after the announcement?
Also, is Hibidy out of jail yet? I was gonna send him a cake with a file in it.
Seriously though, any expectations of a release date, beta period, anything? Thanks.

Haha... Bitwig. Nice catch, I actually didn't see that until you said it.
Ayways, I'd thought the Wigs would be ratcheting up the excitement level after NAMM with some good new videos.

@TTOZ
Thanks for that info I'm on Win 7 64bit. I always thaught Jbridge was just for 32bit compatablity in a 64bit DAW. Trying the demo now.

Opened a 1.7 GB instrument in Ableton Live 8. In Windows Task manager it says Ableton Live is using 166MB : ) The 1.7GB instrument sat on its own in the taskmanager waiting for new neighbours I have 6GB Ram to play with now instead of 3.
I'm soo happy thanks for telling me this. No need to wait for any new DAW or update.
Nearly filled up all 6GB Ram with a session I had in mind looks like I'm gona need to buy 3X 4GB sticks of RAM sooner than planned to stop windows crashing he he.

I hope they do include sampled instruments, as I think that the included/integrated instruments (in all DAW) should be good (effective at least), have nice CPU utilization and integrate perfectly with the DAW (visually, workflow and controller like Live's devices).davidka wrote:I hope they won't bother with included sample content...
I'm afraid Renoise wants to take the path of Live :/
But I dont care about sampled loops and the like.
