Isn't all that content already in Komplete 8 Ultimate? Before Komplete 8 came out, there were already dozens of instruments, sample sets, preset packs, and Reaktor ensembles to draw from.

At this point, I think there's only Maschine, Maschine Sample Packs, and that new upright piano to draw from, correct? Maybe they'll be including a software-only version of Maschine?

Well you're right that the downside is you have to wait for a year, till the next summer sale. But you don't end up paying the same. By waiting for the right sales/crossgrades I got Komplete 7 + Kore2 for about $500, if I added the upgrade to Komplete 8, it's still less than K8's full price, which of course doesn't include Kore 2. Plus in my experience, most retailers pull previous versions of NI products once the new ones come out. I'm sure there are places you can find the blowout prices though.

Oh, I was talking about upgrading to 8 vs 9 later. I mean upgrading from another version of Komplete.

Damage as well. That's not yet included in K8 or K8U.

In that case I totally agree with you. K7 to K8 isn't a huge leap. If I wait until next summer, hopefully I'll get K7 to K9 for the same price.

That is what I am going to try to do but may not be able to wait, depends what they are offering, heck I may not even buy it next summer if it isn't much I want. I had no trouble at all resisting 8 from 7.

waiting? What is it with you guys and "waiting"??? (sarcastic humor!)

I dunno. Other than supreme upgrades to the actual line, there is nothing for me....but it's a bit early.

I want dirt! I want leaked sources of info on upcoming NEW AND IMPROVED NI product! :D

I would of thought seriously about upgrading to Ultimate, but they offered a really lame deal for Komplete 7 owners imo.

Really?

Well, as I'm sure I've said, I got K8 (standard) for a little more than 300 bucks (I have maschine so it was a crossgrade) and I'm happy with that. More shit than I could ever use.

Yeah it is only $10 less than a crossgrade for someone who owns only Kontakt or Reaktor. So having the whole entire Kompete 7 only saves me $10 over someone who has only one product.

:!: Did anyone else notice that the update price for K8U is not 50% off the MSRP (for K 2-7 users)? The MSRP of updating from K 2-7 is $560 (and is $500 around most of the web) however the "50% off update sale" is not truly 50% off... because 50% off of $560 is $280 NOT $390. Did anyone else notice this? On this note I am going to wait for KU9 because it will be (based on the recent pricing of K8U) only ~$110 dollars more than the "50% off update". I really really want to know what K9U will contain. I guess speculators gonna speculate.

That is the update price from K8 to K8U not K2-7 which is the price of the update to K8 and then the update from K8 to K8U.

The MSRP of the upgrade for K 2-7 users is $560 (but musicans friend and guitar center have them for $500) http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audi ... te-upgrade

and the cost of the upgrade for K 2-7 on the native instruments site is $389.50 http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... -ultimate/

Perhaps I am confused by what you are saying, but I don't feel like its actually 50% off because I can buy the upgrade for $500 right now and the NI sale is $390 :( I also understand that the price makes sense $114.5 (K8 update from K 2-7)+ $279.50 (K8U update from K8 )= approx. $390 but I feel as if NI should actually back up what they advertise.

Interesting NI changed their prices at the beggining of the year for the K8U upgrade from K2-K7 to be equal to the upgrade to K8 plus the cost of the upgrade from K8 to K8U. Looks like musicians Friend are still showing the pre-change time limited price that was suppposed to end 31 December 2011. Maybe they still have the old stock?
