Is there any synth out there that has the sound quality of U-He Diva?

Please can we get back to synths? I was liking all the comparisons of the various 303 emulations etc. That was interesting.

Yeah, sorry! I began to type before you replied (Yes, I'm that slowIngonator wrote:Again out of context. I have only mentioned Urs' name in an example but it was not about him alone. I also added additional comments in my replies to Urs himself (see above). But it's not Urs or any other U-He team member who makes these comparsions, it's the userbase.

I completely get what you mean and even agree. I'm the first one to buy a round once these "discussions" end

I guess tht that discussion fits better to that thread also based on the fact that there is a long list of 303 emulations:braj wrote:Please can we get back to synths? I was liking all the comparisons of the various 303 emulations etc. That was interesting.

Yeah, let's get back on topic!braj wrote:Please can we get back to synths? I was liking all the comparisons of the various 303 emulations etc. That was interesting.
Someone asked how to spice up analog-ish synth sounds.
I highly recommend TSE-808 v2!
It's free and awesome on resonant 303 like synth lines
Instant acid

OK, in case of adding more demos here we go:
Ingonator wrote:Hi,
some time ago i had created small audio demos for all of my presets which are included in the official "Analog" expansion/soundset for Tone2 Saurus.
Those demos use a single preset and no external FXs were used.
Here are the audio demos (all of them WAV files) of 28 of my own favorite presets from my Saurus presets in the "Analog" bank:
Saurus Preset Demo_Rez Arp
Saurus Preset Demo_Tremolo Arp
Saurus Preset Demo_Acidic Saurus 2
Saurus Preset Demo_Catherine Bass
Saurus Preset Demo_Chainsaw Bass
Saurus Preset Demo_Horny Saurus
Saurus Preset Demo_JP8 Low Brass
Saurus Preset Demo_Oxygene 4 Brass
Saurus Preset Demo_Cosy PWM Pad
Saurus Preset Demo_Dreamy Saw Pad
Saurus Preset Demo_Epic Strings
Saurus Preset Demo_Influx Pad
Saurus Preset Demo_Reso Sweep Pad
Saurus Preset Demo_Saulina
Saurus Preset Demo_Swell Pad
Saurus Preset Demo_Vox Humania
Saurus Preset Demo_Bell Morph Pad
Saurus Preset Demo_Bellish Vox Pad
Saurus Preset Demo_Fat Rez Lead
Saurus Preset Demo_Full Feedback
Saurus Preset Demo_High Sky
Saurus Preset Demo_Abacab Fifths
Saurus Preset Demo_Rockford
Saurus Preset Demo_Singing Triangles
Saurus Preset Demo_Sizzle
Saurus Preset Demo_Chorused Wurly
Saurus Preset Demo_Electric Grand 2
Saurus Preset Demo_Tremolo Wurly
In some of those realtime modulation like e.g. Aftertouch or manual change of the Cutoff was used (e.g. first demo)
All of those presets are included here:
http://www.tone2.com/html/analog.html
It's no secret that Saurus is one of my favorite synths. So far i have created around 150+ presets with it. Maybe i'll do a few more audio demos soon.
Here is one demo of a preset inspired by a Jupiter 8 pad/strings sound:
Saurus JP-8 Mellow Strings
I have found that the low end of Saurus could be improved by using an external EQ like e.g. Stillwell Audio VibeQ.
Here are 2 demos of a full track (using only my own Saurus presets including the drums) first without and then with an EQ:
Oxygene 4 Saurus Remix (no FX)
Oxygene 4 Saurus Remix (with EQ)
Not all of those presets are included in the soundbank mentioned above but maybe in future soundbanks.
BTW that track was not supposed to sound exactly like the original song!
UPDATE:
some more examples:
Abacab Saurus Remix (no FX)
Abacab Saurus Remix (with EQ)
All sounds from Saurus except the drums which are from NI Battery 3.
Again that track was not supposed to sound exactly like the original song!
ElecTronic Saurus
3 instance of Saurus, drums are from the "Drums" expansion/soundset for Tone2 ElectraX.
Most of the links above contain WAV files for better quality. In several browser like e.g. Safari for Windows (which i use) the tracks could be played directly. If you want to download the WAV files you could use "Save as..." from the right click menu.

What you've done there Ingo is you've posted a very long list of clips from one synth.Ingonator wrote:OK, in case of adding more demos here we go: [...long list of clips...]
For a comparison you really need clips from at least two synths, preferably doing similar things.
Hope that helps.

Let's take a step back for a moment.
We save thousands and get more flexibility by using a good VA over the hardware device it models. But this kind of effort as displayed in this thread just to get something that's 50 or at best 100 bucks less expensive than the VA whose sound we want?
To the OP - consider how long it takes you to make that money. There's a turning point at which it becomes a waste of time, and that point is reached fairly quickly. You might just want to get the plugin whose sound you want.
On the other subject: We often mistake "having done one's homework and using that to make an educated point" for "arrogance" because it shows us that we had a big mouth and didn't do our homework while someone else did, and after having complained in public we now look stupid.
A fairly common trait, particularly on the interwebs.

No need to do a joke based on the comparison which was done with Oxium/Jupiter 8. I guess this is what you are up too or not?hakey wrote:What you've done there Ingo is you've posted a very long list of clips from one synth.Ingonator wrote:OK, in case of adding more demos here we go: [...long list of clips...]

My own demos i posted above don't use any comparison. Just pure Saurus...
I had enough trouble with posting comparisons with Diva.
Besides that all sounds in my demos are my own work (except some drums) and not from the factory sounds...
It's exactly my point. Since Diva is out most people seem to have problems judging a synth on it's own besides any comparisons.

Let go of my ego!!!
(none of you remember that waffle commercial, do ya? )
I saw the word mentioned...
It's not arrogance.
It's not pride.
It is PASSION!
I love doing it to the best of my ability, and hope others will love it too.
Whatever.
All I know is many here at kvr sound real and genuine, and have passion in how they write words, but quite a number of others, sound fake, phony, and write stuff up like an advert...and others still just plain jealous.
I do my own work with passion as well.
I see this passion in other developers, musicians, and sound designers as well, but not all. There are some who seem to show "haste" in their work, where much patience, and almost no set deadline is really the best way to work.
That's where the quality of whatever produced, shows best.
Patience is the best remedy for every trouble.

It's a direct audio demo comparison (as per your request - see below).Ingonator wrote:No need to do a joke based on the comparison which was done with Oxium/Jupiter 8. I guess this is what you are up too or not?
One clip is Saurus the other Diva. That is all.
but you previously complained...My own demos i posted above don't use any comparison.
THen i all those thraeds there were almost no audio demo comparisons with other synths.
