V-Station

Well, i don't see how it should be related to the V-Station, as i wrote, the A- and K-Station hardware is the line the V-Station hails from.
They ALL hail from the same line:

The issue can in fact be had for free, if starting a trial subscription.

But then one need to read the terms carefully, and watch out for automatic continuation of that subscription and bleeding of the credit card....

They say " DVD Content

Here digital subscribers can find the DVD content for the last four issues of MusicTech & the last four MusicTech Focus issues."

According to feedback on Google Play the DVD content is not for single issue (digital) buyers, you need to open a subscription (which you can cancel at any time) via their app. It's not very clear if it's possible to subscribe for back issues (148 is now a back issue). May have missed out on this one. Suppose I could risk the £2.49 and find out.

From Pocketmags.com :
"Note: Digital editions do not include the covermount items or supplements you would find with printed copies. "

Why then does MusicTech write the following, apologising for being late for uploading the second disc with the Novation/FocusRite stuff for those buying just this issue?:

MusicTech
Hi everyone - apologies for the delay in getting the second 148 DVD online. It's now available to download. As it wasn't usual for us to have two we decided initially to not host it online but after overwhelming demand we stuck it up. Sorry to you guys who bought the digital version just for this disc.

Confused - it seems the DVDs can just be downloaded (unlike the CM ones that need you to have the mag) - so do you need the mag for a serial or password or something?

Post

I bought the mag on Google Play.

I downloaded the DVD2 to start off with, it doesn't appear to be password protected or anything, I can extract it straight away. Weird.

The latest V-Station is full of bugs and they really spread it unfixed?!

Alright, thanks. Wasn't aware of that. I thought it was only A-, K- and V-Station which were compatible with each other.

Yeah, i think version 1.7 is fine, but anything which came after has bugs.

No idea ... there is a lot of contradictory info on their website. Maybe they mean subscribers? Did you buy a subscription or just a single issue?

It looks like DVDs for any issue can be downloaded. What is on these DVDs?

I have V-Station and Bass Station and I paid full price for it back in the day, if it makes anybody feel better. I was looking for the Focusrite suit. Is it on one of DVDs? What is included? Thanks.

the Focusrite DVD includes Novation 'Bass-Station' and 'V-Station', as well as the Focusrite 'Midnight Plug-In Suite'.

i was able to download and register the Novation software completely free, didn't buy the magazine (digital or hard copy).

go to the MusicTech site, download the Issue #148 '(bonus) Focusrite DVD', then follow the instructions in the SOFTWARE folder to register/download.

** i just got 'V-Station' loaded and registered before writing this reply, just to make sure there weren't any roadblocks caused by me not actually purchasing it. no problems, up and running.

Haha! This is the weirdest thing. Anyway, thanks for figuring that out! And thanks to Novation and Musictech of course ;)

Just added it (them) to my account. Nice. Thanks Novation.

Indeed. Even though I bought the digital edition I found out that you can download the Novation DVD without the magazine. Everything you need to install and register the plugins are included in the DVD file. So no magazine needed at all. Seems that MusicTech has not thought this out thoroughly. Wonder what the Novation thinks about their software being turned into freeware. Maybe they just don't care.
