Thank you, ClaRago. "Take Three" = third take playing the wavs through the HGS Phase Shifter with a keyboard, though I am quite fond of The Third Man.

@liquidgreg:
But anyway, fine with me.
I understand "no choirs" very differently. Since beat vox is allowed choir elements like a short percussive "ya!" must be allowed, too. This month's theme is all about avoiding harmonic and melodic elements, as far as I understand the theme and that's what I did. Don't know, maybe I got that wrong then(?).unfortunately "forw" broke the rules of no choirs, and I really liked that track.
But anyway, fine with me.

That's strange, I've got 9 points from liquidgreg (thanks a lot, by the wayforw wrote:@liquidgreg:

So, where's the threshold between "choir" and "percussive element"?

To me, the rules mean that there is only percussion, struck objects, no harmonic content. Nothing else.
For example, if I was to be punched in the throat, the impact would be percussion, but the air escaping my throat would not be. My head hitting the floor would be. I didn't realize beat vox were allowed, but then I wouldn't have thought they'd be allowed in any music.

Hey, adj, welcome back! One of the new developments in the contest is that Dan now announces the theme for the next month on the 25th (when the submission time for the current month closes). That means you can already start on next month's composition if you want.adj wrote: Hey back to you D.H. You've had lots of great contests lately mate! Bravo!

Not sure that analogy works. When for example a floor tom is struck a large burst of air escapes from the bottom. The science museum near me (Franklin Institute) has a bunch of drums set up in front of a curtain and you can make the curtain move by beating the drums.Shangsean wrote:For example, if I was to be punched in the throat, the impact would be percussion, but the air escaping my throat would not be. Ouch. A bad run in with a beatboxing gang or something?Shangsean wrote:I didn't realize beat vox were allowed, but then I wouldn't have thought they'd be allowed in any music.
Gourdman doesn't party as much as he used to, but he rages pretty hard when he gets the chance. You're welcome to join any time ClaRago! Bring your galoshes!ClaRago wrote:I cannot help but picture ½ dozen colourful tribesmen from all over the world packed up in a small room having a great PARTY.I want to be invited !!
(paraphrasing D.H.) A national anthem from a real or made up country using a significant part of someone else's submission from this month and a KVR developer challenge entry. It's like three themes in one!!! Hope you can pull it off, your music has been missed around here!adj wrote:I might just have time to do December's--can't wait to see what the theme is
edit: ahh, you beat me to it GMoneh.

BTW, I just remembered I hadn't given the tempo information about my track...
Thumping Deep is 4/4 at 90 bpm.

Not sure either. Sounded good at the time of writing.evo2slo wrote:Not sure that analogy works. When for example a floor tom is struck a large burst of air escapes from the bottom. Have you noticed the guy behind the curtain frantically shaking it?
