I'd also like to be able to show both... After a while, all my favorites will be in the user library so it will be less noticeable.

Does anyone know of any adverse effects installing both the 32 and 64 bit versions? This is how I did the betas (renaming the application by adding 32 or 64).

RIght now the only thing I dislike is that launchpad (Apple, not Novation) only Live 9 shows up. My other versions of Live are not there. I mostly use Alfred to launch app anyways, but occasionally I use launchpad, so if anyone knows of a fix for this, please let me know.

I never use Launchpad, it takes up the whole screen and more than one of them too. I just put all my application shortcuts in a folder (and sub folders) attached to the dock and set to list/stack mode - works just like Windows start menu and I can easily see 64 bit and 32 bit versions.

You've never used spotlight or Alfred? I don't do the stacks because I hate having things in the dock (yeah it's an OCD thing). I just keep finder, launchpad, downloads and the trash... that's it. I mostly just use Alfred, option+spacebar, type a couple of letters and launch.

Does it have a bounce in place feature like logic? Or are the options still resample in real-time, or offline bounce a section of the song? Also, anything like logic's clip folders? folders and bounce in place are the two big things I want, the only two features I care about from logic, but I'm guessing I'm out of luck here since I haven't heard anything...

Ha Ha.

I foresee you will need to buy a coupon for $100 that gives you the right to buy Push for $700. :hihi:

Happy musiking!

No I don't like using the keyboard to type just to find apps.

There's no problem with renaming the application with an added 32 or 64 and installing both... (I use Quick Silver as an easy app launcher and both options show up).

I love it!! From reading some stuff here and plenty of threads on other forums, I expected to be underwhelmed. Not at all. I think it's a fantastic update. Some quick notes:

- UI feels simpler and cleaner and more responsive. Big like.
- session automation - YES!! finally
- new browser. BIG fan here. Especially the User library. I had always kept my devices in a separate project which was effectively the user library. Unfortunately Live didn't really know anything about that...so if I'd create a drum rack and save it to my library, and then load it into a new set and make changes and save it back, it would reimport all the samples back into the library. The new user library now keeps my stuff separate while being intelligently managed like the factory library
- more browser stuff: much more responsive, and I dig the places concept, especially with packs. It makes it really easy to find stuff from the different packs I use
- envelope editing is much better especially with the curved envelopes
- previewing presets is fantastic. I just wish I could figure out how to create previews for my own presets (I'm sure it's possible just haven't seen it yet)
- consolidate to new scene is great
- new shortcut for activating and deactivating clips, nice
- track defaults are great - finally I can have a built-in channel strip per track
- compressor / gate / EQ improvements. dynamics and EQ are the fundamental components for mixing, nice to see enhancements here

All in all this release seems focused on WORKFLOW, and contrary to some complaints I've read on other forums it's not centered entirely around Push. I suspect these workflow changes won't do it for everyone, but as for me, they are some serious improvements and really fit with the way I like to use live. Upgraded mixing tools are icing on the cake.

I'm really pleased with it so far (just exploring the new stuff, haven't recorded anything). Definitely worth the upgrade for me. If they get around to handling some of the other common requests that people have, awesome, but as it stands now I think they've taken a killer music-making platform and made it even better.

The "complaints" stem from many of us who have had the beta for a while and ableton being in no hurry to fix things that don't work. It's not a bad program at all, I use it every day.

I'm doing fine with 9 (so far). Haven't put it through all its paces yet. But I was buying it for session clip automation no matter what anyway.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned here (or missed it):

It looks like there are some welcome changes / additions to the libraries. For example, the addition (?) of the Grand Piano. This is not the same as the core library piano - it's from e-instruments, and it's much higher quality, and is now included in the standard edition.

Same goes for the orchestral collection - that's included in the upgrade from Suite 8 to 9, and if I'm not mistaken cost hundreds and is not the same - it's from Sonivox.

I may be wrong (backed-up and uninstalled the 8 library for room) - if so, someone please set me straight (like I'd have to ask around here :hihi: )

Also, there's no longer any difference (short of physical mats) between the download and box version.

getting some pretty regular crashes on start up here
often have to load it twice to get it going and get "ableton has stopped working" screen.. anyone else?

i'm doing good so far here shane. been productive. i'm quite fond of v9. i've only had 1 crash thus far and it was fxpansion licensing dialog related. plugins and everything is working really well. no issues so far *knock wood* aside from that 1 crash. what's your os? i'm on win8, running 32bit live right now (i can't get by without a few 32 bit plugins after all).

I've only had one crash so far too. Mac/64bit.

Mine happened after I finally finished installing the add-on libraries. It was taking a little bit extra for each category to populate the contents, and then finally it just crashed.

Since then, I have not had one problem.

You're right that it's all new content. I didn't own the Orchestral collection when it was sold separately from the suite, so I'm not sure if it's exactly the same product, but I think it is (for whatever that's worth).

I've been playing with the piano and I love it at times, but the velocity seems off to me. Everything seems a bit too loud, but I'm fighting off a cold too so my ears (sinus issues) are just f**d right now. :x
