Edit - it gave me a headache to look at so I removed it.
Let's just say I may be able to get you the best of both worlds, VitaminD.

This video posted in 2012 must assume a target market that is unfamiliar with the state of the art for 2012. It takes me back to say 2004. The first part of it is pretty good, but around one minute the main melody is carried by 'violins' and it is just not good, it sounds like a synthesizer. As a general statement I think this thing is not underrated. It struck me as entry-level years ago. However it must be designed fairly well for live. The sounds though are fair-to-poor IMO.kodebode2 wrote:While certainly you are close to your product and my less than positive comments may not be what you want to hear - consider this, my first contribution to this thread was an unsolicited glowing and favorable comment on what I found good about your products - the iPad acoustic pianos, which would make me want to buy a similar product as a PC/MAC virtual instrument, if this was available at the same quality. A product that sounded as good as Yamaha digital pianos, and better in some ways than a recent Yamaha Motif or S90, in the same store. I applauded the positive and I commented on the negative - the lack of sympathetic resonance. An objective fair comment...Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Really?kodebode2 wrote:Its time to retire these old favorites in emperors new clothes, 15 years ago these were the bees knees, no more. Their sale shoudl be discontinued... Period.
Why - no matter how cheap they sell for, the quality is simply not work paying anything for them. It's more about squeezing the last buck from this dinosaur - an unfortunate business ethic. Buyer beware.
Does this sound bad? I think Miroslav Philharmonik is wildly underrated (though it may be the most popular choice in the Group Buy at the moment so people still do like it):
Plus, if you don't feel they are worth paying for you do have the right to simply not buy them.
... listened to Miroslav for many years, including the youtube example you posted(which in spite of it being drowned in a bit of reverb, I can still hear that the samples are not up to date, i.e what I want to hear in 2013)...
Making a case for the business sense of keeping them is one thing, but don't do too much.

Of course we will have new sounds that are great with SampleTank 3 but for many uses (including major releases) it is still valid for many. At least 1,500+ according to http://ikmultimedia.com/vigb
I understand you yourself will not likely use it for your next masterpiece but many will be happy with the results using it for the music that moves them and their listeners.

Hi Peter,Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:? I hope you didn't misunderstand as we haven't promised that.donato wrote:Looking forward to the promised free 64 bit player!
I asked you this question back in March (see below with your response).

Not sure if it was mentioned here, but when ST3 finally arrives:
1) Will I be able to use my ST2 libraries (Miroslav, Sonik Synth, SampleTron, SampleMoog) in my 64-bit DAW?
2) Will this be a free upgrade for registered ST2 users?
Thanks,
Tony
1. Those libraries will be usable in SampleTank 3
2. We haven't set any pricing information yet, but there is also the option of a free version like we do with other products, since a full free upgrade isn't likely. Unless we've instituted an 8-year grace period an nobody told me.

iRig PRO out now!
New T-RackS gear!
iRig HD

What did you mean by "but there is also the option of a free version like we do with other products" in your response back in March?
I was under the assumption SampleTank 3 player/engine would be a free upgrade, similar to Amplitube3. This would allow me to use the 64-bit VST in my DAW, but only load my ST2 libraries. The only thing you would have to pay for are the new sampling libraries.
If that's not the case please let me know now, so I forget about waiting around for this release.

There was an option for that to happen. We have not stated that we have decided to go with that option yet. So it is clear, we have not and do not promise a player and I'd still (again) recommend making a purchase today for what it will do for you today not for what it may or may not do for you in the future.

Is there an upgrade path (ST3) to those of us that own most/all of the other VI's, but not the full version of SampleTank?

I'm not asking for a player. I'm asking for an update of SampleTank Free with 64-bit support.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:There was an option for that to happen.
