Maybe it's just wishful thinking. But then again, I expect nothing
Any Spectrasonics news?

I dunno. Remember they wanted to charge for 1.7? Then because it wasn't quite right they decided against it. I have my issue with spec but I'm not 100% certain it's going to not come "cheap"

yes to the presets. maybe to the soundsources. i'd really doubt a big overhaul to sound engine, but maybe some new filter modelsbmrzycki wrote:For some reason I have a feeling the announcement will be something like Omnisphere 1.7 with yet more presets, sound sources, and either a tweak to one of the sound modes or a whole new sound engine.
the browser will be updated, as eric has more than hinted at before

there will be a lot of overlap, but komplete ultimate covers so much more ground.kyma wrote:interesting... im about to get either omni + trillian + rmx or Komplete 10 Ultimate.Codestation wrote: You know the thing is, with Spectrasonics... I kind of don't want them to release something new. I know this is like... heresy... but I've barely scratched the surface of what can be done with Omnisphere, Trillian and RMX. OK I do find RMX a pain in the but in some ways, but still...
whats your take on either package in terms of quantity and sound quality?
i'd imagine ultimate + omnisphere would be the killer combo

My memory is al least as hazy as yours, and there were rumors about what became RMX 1.7.hibidy wrote:I dunno. Remember they wanted to charge for 1.7? Then because it wasn't quite right they decided against it. I have my issue with spec but I'm not 100% certain it's going to not come "cheap"

I am on record for saying I'd have gladly paid $99 for it, and still would.
About this week, well I'm kinda expecting something and no I can't afford it, but I just want to know what Spectrasonics has been doing.
If they give me a freebie update at this point I'll be embarrassed.

well, it's more about this....
If they had ANYTHING THAT WAS SIGNIFICANT it would be a good thing
Many of us, for years and years wish that RMX was significantly updated. I can give you many examples (from actual sounds, to how grooves work, to how they are chosen via the browser) but I really wonder if that is of concern.
I own all 3, and someone as innovative as Eric, I'd just like to see something that will blow my mind.
Here's hoping..........

Let us all hope. I will stay tuned for your "yawn-with-credit-card-extended".hibidy wrote:well, it's more about this....

I made my predictions way back on P3, but here we go with a slightly expanded list.
I think we'll see action on all three products, plus something new. I'll happily take far less, but this feels like a full on damburst coming.
Omnisphere
Undo / redo. Further browser enhancements / refinements including better genre tagging (dubstep / trance etc). New synthesis options - at least one of Wavetable, Spectral, Scanning, enchanced granular or FM. Bigger unison options. Enchanced ARP. Reverse sample. Trilian-style front page for every factory patch. FX rack bypass. Lots of new soundsources and patches.
I'm divided on sample import - can't quite predict this. I think the main thing that's held Eric back is he wants a clean, reliable, uniform experience - if we do get sample import, I think patches that involve it will be partitioned off browser-wise.
Trilian
Some new basses, esp Rickenbacker. One or two more synthesis options from Omni to be made available. I'd like to see a new more playable legato slide for the main basses. New patches of course.
Stylus RMX
I think this will be a new product with a new name. The headline will be a blurring between audio and midi loops. Not just audio slices, but a detection algorithm to identify kick, snare, hat elements etc, with the option to replace with one-shots. Import the loop into a new sequencer and change elements that way. Sequencer to have groove lock. Something similar to Toontrack's Click 2 Find - play a groove (or import one), Stylus 2 finds close matches. More groove variation manipulation a la simplify - randomisation and fill generation. Cleaner delineation between grouped slices, easy to see and route output, fx etc. Massively expanded core library. Micro-editing. WAV import (possibly?). Tag browser a la the other two products, both for the one shots and loops.
Mystery Product(s)
Who knows? All bets off. A virtual guitar? Hardware?

Quantity: K10U by a LOT.kyma wrote: interesting... im about to get either omni + trillian + rmx or Komplete 10 Ultimate.
whats your take on either package in terms of quantity and sound quality?
Quality: Both similar.
Unless Spectrasonics announces something to replace/compliment RMX, K10U has WAAAY better options for percussion and drums.
Barring an INSANE announcement from Spectrasonics, I would start off with K10U, then Get Omnisphere, then Trillian, (in that order) and then *maybe* Stylus RMX, although I only ever find myself using RMX in it's current form for 'inspiration'. If I want to get straight to making drums I'll always just fire up Battery, Studio Drummer, Damage, or one of the other Kontakt percussion libraries.
Mind you even Omnisphere has some gorgeous percussion patches - Especially the big 'Impact & Hit' patches....
Having them both really *does* kick ass!!

Depends on what type of music you make really. There is also the option to get Omnisphere + Komplete for the same price. That's what I went with and I couldn't be happier!
SW: Cubase 9.5 | Komplete 11 | Omnisphere 2 | Perfect Storm 2.5 | Soundtoys 5
HW: Steinberg UR28M | Focal Alpha 50 | Fender Jazz Bass | Alesis VI25

do you think theres a certain distinct sound character/sound color for NI or Spectra products?
Characteristics like "dark/bright, organic/muffled, thin/thick, overproduced/neutral, pleasing/exhausting"
For example, everytime I hear something out of reactor, I think many of the ensembles sound somewhat metallic to my ears, not sure.
what concerns me most is a possible overlap when getting both. Lets see what Spectrasonics is revealing, maybe a game changer is around the corner

Yes, a lot of the Reaktor ensembles have a very metallic, thin sound. Some of the better ones are excellent, like Monark.kyma wrote:ok thank youjlanthier wrote:Quantity: K10U by a LOT.kyma wrote: interesting... im about to get either omni + trillian + rmx or Komplete 10 Ultimate.

But yeah, you're not crazy. A lot of Reaktor stuff has very little meat on its bones.
