Just wasn't sure if you could or couldn't via midi out. Would be good with outboard synths, in fact obscurium is a lot like the mophos modulation sequencers.

I can always record the sequences to midi and use them with other synths but i think i'll put an FR in to use the CC lanes with external synths if u buy it. I haven't even looked at using it with the sequencer bypassed actually but it's very fun and creative plugin so far.

I like the straight-up commentary. Too many people either beat-around-the-bush, or bombastically spew comments as they please.

Yours was pretty darned cogent & I appreciate that.

Where is that?
Its a steal at that price for sure.

It is a lot to take in, and I was unable to get my head around it enough to spring for it, but I am definitely in at that price. Its a crazy machine, but its definitely worth understanding, imo. Something for rainy days or.. long holiday weekends.

The thing is that while it is ultra complex, I was impressed with how easy it was to get started with it- even when using 3rd party synths. I expected that part to suck, but I blasted through a few of my favs without too much fuss and no look at the manual. There were a few crashes, but tbh Id be surprised if there werent.

Does this sale end today/tonight or what? Email said Tuesday but Sugarbytes are posting on Facebook it's the last chance. https://www.facebook.com/Sugar-Bytes-242291244529/

The in-built synth is nothing special but it's good enough to generate a wide range of interesting sounds. It's certainly more of a "throw it at the wall and see what sticks" instrument than anything else. I got it on sale last go-round and enjoy it; not sure I would as much at full price.

I'm a bit disappointed in the external plugin integration, though Sugar Bytes does reference this as an "experimental sound-design feature". It worked like a charm on anything I could through at it, however I could not get the preset setting for the plugin to save with the Obscurium preset or with my DAW (Live). The plugin saves/loads with appropriate control assignments, but I've have to manually recall the plugin preset every time (at least with the instruments I tested, such as Diva). You can work around it as a two-step process (documenting what plugin preset you desire to load with that particular Obscurium preset), but that's not ideal.

Not sure if this works in other environments (OS, DAWs, or the standalone), just my experience.

At any rate, I'm still happy enough with the internal sound to get enjoyment out of it -it's limited and digital but you can still get anything from motion-pads to trippy FM percussion to modular-type weirdness, but I'd would be a whole new world if I could get patches with external plugins to "stick".

Just don't attempt to load an instance within itself, I fear for the existace of the universe as we know it!

I felt the ground shake here.
I was around 3 AM.
Was that you?

It may not be legal what you are doing!

F*CK. I was totally on this but I stupidly assumed I had at least until the first of next year. With the wife and baby home, it's nearly impossible to get a moment to check out a demo. I'm currently mourning the end of the long afternoon nap for the tot. :scared:

Bummer! :(

I got the email on the 25th and it said 4 days so i assumed Tuesday but the flyer TCC posted didn't appear in my email as i have to click show images since my ISP switched from google.

I wanted more time to demo Looperator but i bought them both anyway, if i decide to sell one or the other (pretty sure i'll keep Obscurium) i can give you a heads up. :)

if you contact their support email promptly, illustrating the ambiguity of the end-date and expressing what plugins you wanted to buy.. I am almost certain they will sort you out.

they're good folks like that.

@JoeCat i had it not recall a preset with the standalone version tonight but can't recall the exact steps, i've take to saving the patch in an Obscurium folder for each plugin i use. Will see if i can reproduce it in Live.

Now i've gotten to grips with it it's an excellent plugin, the modifiers are great for coming up with new melodies, just modify each step until it sounds harmonically correct with the last and copy to B, tweak and morph between them.

I'm warming to the inbuilt synth a bit for more ambient sounds, heard some good percussive stuff in some of the presets so gonna have to try creating some hihat patterns with it.

Convenient to use that as a starting point though and then load in the plugin and do the assignments, experimental like. :phones:
