I honestly thought R6 might bring in some sort of scripting, but just for the UI side of things
was hoping for that as well...it seemed like a mandatory feature having in mind that it plays a role
in kontakt's popularity

yet the price has been cut to 1/2. reaktor's direction might be different than kontakt's.
i don't see kontakt's price having the same destiny.

Now multicore CPU support really? How to get anything done then?
Of course everything will work as normal with multicore support in your daw
Multicore support only matters at DAW and OS level. The fact that particular synths can support 4 cores doesn't help if you have 20 such synths playing at once - they still can't use only 4 cores / threads at a time. In such situation it's better to have eahc synth run at only one core to reduce context-switching.

Hmmm. Ive discovered that I actually have an upgrade path, but its rather wierdly from my Komplete 4 'crossgrade from two products' license. Im been though 5,6,7, and am currently on Komplete 9 since then.
Ive only ever done upgrades of full versions of Komplete since then, anyone know whether upgrading to Reaktor 6 now would make any difference to the cost of upgrading to Komplete 11 whenever that happens?

Or does anyone reliable want to just say something like 'Im under NDA so can't say that K11 is coming out soon, but you might want to give yourself 9 days and 4 hours to think about it" or something

I'd suggest holding out.

80% of Komplete's have been released in Sep or Oct:

That said, I'm not "reliable" in the sense you're implying ;)

Yeah, I fully expect to see it before November. But that could be two days or 7 weeks, and I wants the new shiny now. :hihi:

Aye. If I thought my upgrade path to K11 would be cheaper if I had R6, I'd have gone for it, but Im pretty sure it wont be.

I think I'll also hold out for Komplete 11 - I'm on 9 now and 10 didn't give me anything I wanted. I hope they include molekular - maybe if all the molekular blocks are in R6 that means it wouldn't make sense not to have it in the bundle? Oh and Kontour would be nice.

I upgraded to R6 yesterday (have K9) , because I want to start developing blocks... its not so much that they are new or something that couldn't be done before (look at ModularX etc), but they provide standardisation which makes interoperatibily easier for users... possibly a new class of users between 'instruments/preset users' and developers.

I wonder how many here might 'review' their decision if the user library starts filling up with with diverse and interesting blocks.. so the virtual modular becomes very real... a bit like eurorack has done with modulars?

Q. a few months back there was a post about a new 'modular' for Reaktor, which has faceplates etc.. any one remember the name? i wonder if that was R6? or have NI potentially killed it?

Very nice! That's what we expect from NI, some real groundbreaking plugins and not sample libraries and ensembles they were releasing lately. I'll have to pick that one up when it goes on sale.

Too bad no multicore support, that will greatly limit the complexity to the more standard patching and force to stay monophonic a lot of the time.

Komplete is on an 18 month release cycle in the past three releases. So, spring next year is more likely than anything.

I'm on K8 regular, and I indend to go K11U. Now THAT will be a shitload of new stuff! :tu:

Question for those who seem to watch these things :)

Do NI tend to release the individual products before they arrive in Komplete, and do they tend to leave 'a gap'... this would appear to be the best way for sales i.e. get the keen to upgrade, then 6 months later use it to boost Komplete sales. ( I ask, as though I fall in to the first category for Reaktor, I fall into the second for Kontakt)

personally, I work on the principle, if I have time and desire to use immediately, then I buy now... I'll be happy even if K11 is out in 3 months time (perhaps not so, if its 10 days :)) . But If I'm only going to mess about with it... then wait.
upgrading R6 does have the advantage of possibly reducing the pressure for me to upgrade to K11, it will now solely be down to Kontakt being upgraded or not

Yep, pretty much.

Isn't it a bit of both most of the time? Some products in between, and some at the same time of a new Komplete release? Monark was introduced with Komplete 9 for instance.

When you get Komplete 11 Ultimate, your shipload of shit will definitely come in

You'd better get yourself a new hard drive, plus the obligatory back up drive to keep things in order...

Funny thing though...

I have Komplete 9 Ultimate - also waiting for Komplete 11 U with Kontakt 6 and all of the other goodies..

But the only things I use from Ultimate compared to the regular Komplete 9 are the Softube plugins..

That's what I bought it for and they are worth every single cent of the upgrade price....

But who knows ?

One day I might get curious and see what else is lurking around inside that K9 Ultimate package
