You really think with all the banks already out there, and with so many sounding the same, there is actually money in creating a Sylenth1 sound library? And if so, how big would that library have to be for people to even consider getting it with as many banks that are currently available?TheoM wrote:that just sounds like anti hate in a way.. there may be a gazillion banks but the user base of sylenth is one of the largest of any vsti ever in history - and people still buy the banks in droves. Sylenth1 is overpriced compared to what's out there today that can do just as much if not more for the same money. I too have just about every synth out there. I don't have Sylenth1. It gives me nothing that I already don't have. At its normal price, no way would I buy it. At the sale price, again, already can do what it can do with my other synths so just don't need it.
I can't answer your question for you though. You sound like a compulsive buyer whereas I buy synths for the soul purpose of creating sound libraries to sell. I plan on having close to 100 libraries out there at some point. So for me, these synths are simply an investment into my business. And with that, I STILL wouldn't get Sylenth1. There are already a gazillion libraries out there, many free, and many people download the synth off of torrent sites anyway. So there is no money in it.
So there you have it. My reasons for not getting it. What are YOUR reasons for getting or not getting it? Only you can answer that. Certainly you can listen to the synth itself to tell if the sound quality holds up. You don't need other people to tell you that. Besides, their opinions, as are mine, are meaningless. The only thing that matters is what YOU think.
So download the demo (if there is one) play around with it and see what you think.
I will never own this synth and will never miss not owning it.
So for $99 if you are a sound designer, this feels more personal to me than anything.

Well, I just downloaded the demo. The GUI, per say, is not small. The problem is, there is so much crammed into that box that the individual sections letters are unreadable on my screen resolution, making this a programming nightmare for me.
So that's that. No point in even going any further. The final nail in the coffin that makes Sylenth1 a non option for me.

What size monitor/screen resolution do you use ? I've seen people complain that Sylenth 1 is ugly but I don't remember anyone saying the gui isn't functional. Dozens and dozens of sound designers have banged out thousands of patches for it using that gui so I don't think it's an issue........wagtunes wrote:Well, I just downloaded the demo. Anyway for $99 Sylenth 1 is a great bargain if you like it's sounds........

Wise choice. Hopefully they'll get the Mac update version finished soon and move on to the Windows update next. Since the Mac version allows official skinning make sure to check out Scott Kane's skins. I prefer those to the default but am still forced to use a hacked .dll on Windows to use them (Lennard has said he's OK with the hacked .dlls so I use them without guilt).TheoM wrote:BTW this thread has moved me to buy sylenth. Some of you guys dissing it has made me want to re buy it even more (i ONLY ever sold it because of logic 64 at the time).

Depends on overall sound design experience and the quality of your back catalog I guess.wagtunes wrote:You really think with all the banks already out there, and with so many sounding the same, there is actually money in creating a Sylenth1 sound library? Ask Joseph Hollo, he recently released a very good soundset far superior to the usual Sylenth Electro House/Dubstep/Trance soundbank garbage some random kids release every other week.

I bought it.
And yes, it has magic sound! Just listened it for few minutes, but it has potential. One problem I have is that the filter knobs are jumping. I am testing new MIDI controller, I use M-Audio Venom and it is my day 1 with it. The knobs on Venom have no limit, so it can turn endlessly. In Sylenth1 it jumps from 0 to 127 )or left to right). In other synths it switches smoothly.
So- we, PC users, will be getting version 3 at some time? Thanks.

My screen resolution is 1280 x 1024. I don't care what other people can or can't see. I'm 58 years old and my eyes aren't the best as it is. I can show you a screen print of what Sylenth1 looks like on my monitor. Maybe you can read it. Doesn't matter. I can't. And if I can't read it, I can't program it.
It's that simple.

Not a bad synth for bread and butter sounds. But why the didn't add any new features to the latest version? I guess there were hundreds of feature requests, but developers ignored them. Really neglectful behaviour. So I will ignore its existence (not a big loss for the company, I understand).

you can bump it to 200%. won't that help? and there are several skins that come with sylenth1...so it can (and does) look much better with one of those skins...wagtunes wrote:Teksonik wrote:What size monitor/screen resolution do you use ?
