With my luck, they'll finally fix the crappy CPU handling

As Uncle E said earlier probably only a quarter of users will find any new features "wow" and the rest meh. Its the nature of over hyping something. If they do release something like they did with track transform then yes that would be raising the bar, if its catch up like with VCA faders then mmmmmm

Only on KVR would a company announcing major new features as a 'free' point update be subject to so much abuse (before we even know what the free update is....) It must be a bit depressing if you are a software developer and cant even give something away free without a torrent of snide remarks
I don't ever remember getting an update on my Fostek X26 4 track tape deck....(and ironical I was more productive on that than any DAW

The funniest part of it all is that it's not really even ton of hype, it's just one really short teaser video and one sentence of text from excited ad people.
All the rest of it, the free advertising across the net, comes from threads like this.
I think, generally speaking, people probably shouldn't take common marketing phrases like "mind-blowing" so literally, and maybe relax a little and have fun with it all. I've yet to see anyone's head actually pop off after seeing a daw update.

I'm curious about the new features tomorrow. I'll never ever leave Cubase, but I'm always interested what other DAWs can do. Today there are no reasons to change from Cubase to S1, but who knows, maybe in the far far future.

Hmmm.... I'm not really excited or unexcited. I never like to get suckered in by any one's marketing. Cynicism is the key.
But I'd rather push razor blades into my eyes than sit through a tedious 'webinar'. Yawn... I'll just get the news a later on in bite size pieces.
I still think it's the best DAW around for me tho' (that, and good old Ableton).
And I've no urge to go to Reaper or Cubase.

It's very soon after it, if I remember correctly. Probably not too long after the borinar.qtheerearranger wrote:Does anybody know if they release 3.2 as soon as they start the stream? I think i remember they did that last time? no?

Mine was pretty close when Steinberg released VST it has to be said.LawrenceF wrote: I've yet to see anyone's head actually pop off after seeing a daw update.
Why do people get so wound up by terms like "Revolutionary" (the term used in this nonsense from Presonus) personally i think it is because the days of "That old fart is only used to mixer and tape, lets copy that workflow" are really coming to an end, now when you say "Revolutionary" it better damn well had be, because Joe public has spent 99c last week for an app on his iDroid and it shoot sparks out of its yingyang.
DAWs are many years behind the curve in terms of UX and features, the newer kids on the block (Reaper/ Studio One) have pretty much just copied everybody else and modernised here and there are very little in the way of innovation outside of the mobile market.
There is an element of why reinvent the wheel, but invariably they all do in some small but annoying way, but nothing "Revolutionary" and at some point the buying public will just switch off and think "I'm not buying your update" Apples "We don't really care anymore, have it for $199, should not only wake up developers, it should worry them too.
To be fair here aswell, anybody who follows Reaper knows exactly how huge their next free update actually is, Presonus are going to have to do something to back up their "Revolutionary" nonsense or threads like this will tear them apart (Rightly so too)

Put it this way, it wouldn't be free with any other developer, but at the same time v5 was complete **** as a full version update hahaha, it is all swings and roundabouts at ReaperVilleUncle E wrote:For those of us who don't follow it, what will be in the next big Reaper update?bungle wrote:anybody who follows Reaper knows exactly how huge their next free update actually is

With Reaper, I hope they add the score editor next. I don't know when, I'm not participating in testing the beta now, but I know at some point they'll add it, maybe with the fifth version or maybe the sixth. Anyway this is not a small feature and needs a lot of work.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.
