The problem is that it can be read as you saying that they're good emulations. It appears that you intend to say that they're fantastic products that happen to be emulations as well.EnGee wrote:And what the f**k this has to do with my sentence "RePro1 and The Legend are the best emulations that I have ever heard"?!!Robert Randolph wrote:Do you not understand that something can be both a good product and a poor emulation?EnGee wrote:Another genius in logic and semanticsRobert Randolph wrote:
You may think they are amazing synths or fantastic products. But unless/until you can compare them to the original, then you don't know if they are good emulations.
It's entirely possible that they are amazing synths that are not completely accurate emulations. That's even dually possible if what they are emulating aren't amazing synths. In that case, a good emulation would be a bad synth!
Both are emulations right? They are synths but emulations right?
Let the German gods help you Urs, or maybe you need more, many more!
The former can't really be fully appreciated without experiencing the original product in depth. The latter... sure, but you phrased it very awkwardly.
I'm just trying to explain to you what the potential issue was with your statement. I think it's an interesting language snafu.

I agree - the Arturia Synclavier is the only softsynth that managed to blow me away during this year.electro wrote:The favorite synth of 2016 is Arturia's Synclavier V

Tell me about Toraiz. I assume its designed to be paired up with a Pioneer Controller. I thought Roland's DJ-808 was really well executed.DrGonzo wrote:I agree - the Arturia Synclavier is the only softsynth that managed to blow me away during this year.electro wrote:The favorite synth of 2016 is Arturia's Synclavier V

The workflow on the Toraiz simply kills. I've never had a piece of gear where I could create music in a way that is so incledible fluid and inspiring. Yes, in some ways it is crippled and lack many features. But even so - if Pioneer wouldn't update it once, I'm still 100 percent happy about it. Makes music making fun. You switch it on - you make music. Love it.electro wrote:Tell me about Toraiz. I assume its designed to be paired up with a Pioneer Controller. No, to be nitpicking about the nitpicker's proposition, one could not make that statement ever - unless one had access to all emulations ever made, and the exact synth they strive to replicate. So pretty much nobody could ever come to the opinion "these are the two best emulations I have ever heard". Ever.Robert Randolph wrote:The former can't really be fully appreciated without experiencing the original product in depth.

Please don't confuse me trying to explain someone's position with me agreeing with it.

Same as last year - Minisyn'x
Not everyone knows that this is not to be seen as a cut down version of the Syn'X 2. Minisyn'x is actually a very precise emulation of the Elka Syhnthex.
Probably most know as the synth used with Jarre's laser harp. The Synythex is also mentioned by Martin Gore, from Depeche Mode, as a favorite:
"I did use some more conventional stuff. I mean, I love my Elka Synthex. I use that on quite a few trac..."

It is not that difficult to compare the best Minimoog emulation VSTi's, there are not too many. Don't think we have to argue about Steinberg Model E being in the same class as Monark, Legend, or Diva.Urs wrote:No, to be nitpicking about the nitpicker's proposition, one could not make that statement ever - unless one had access to all emulations ever made, and the exact synth they strive to replicate. And, if i may add this, that's really nitpicking, while i was simply saying that it is misleading to talk about the "best emulation ever", when you don't even own (or have ever owned) the original. I think solely the fact that you and EnGee thought i wanted to talk aynthing down (for whatever reason. I don't want to talk anything down) were the reason why my point wasn't understood.

I think i can say that just really at the very end of the year since there still coming some good synths like Avenger, Predator 2.....and maybe a few others.
If i had to bet now i would say Avenger (not Icarus like i thought a while ago) but it´s too early to say
