kevin brown wrote:This also isn't a new one or a re-vamp, but because it's story is interesting, I'm gonna post about it.

A few years ago there was a hoax perpetrated by someone going under the fake company name of 'Seekers'. They promoted the pending release of an impressively-featured synth called the SMS-2000. The thing never materialized.

Great thing about software like Synthmaker - we can make it 'real' as a vst.

That looks gorgeous!!

I'm such a fan of this kind of GUI's :!:

Clear and well designed!

There's a really nice review of the plugins over at BPB. :)

Decided to do a second version of ZMZ 2000 that looks more like the 'original' (in same folder as the first version). On the first version I used bakelite-style knobs because at the time, I hadn't yet figured out how to do the more Moog-style. I also did the egs with sliders due to personal preference. I also implemented the Formant Filter as a three-band Polymoog-style.
So, v2.0 with Moog-y knobs, knoby Egs and a Formant filter based on the Moog Fixed Filter Bank (the frequencies shown in the photos of SMS 2000 made no sense in a formant filter. I think Wendy Carlos had a hand in selecting the bands for the Moog filter).

It seems I may have mis-spoken regarding Seekers as being a 'fake' company - not sure; nothing's very sure surrounding this synth. Did one ever exist - even in prototype? Was it an elaborate hoax - possibly perpetrated by Ken Elhardt? Whatever the case, whoever designed the specification and panel design knew what they were doing - it's brillliant! In hardware it would have cost a fortune - with SM we got it free!

if your DAW supports FXP and FXB patch protocol, you should have no problems saving Patches and banks.

And now I got it why your synths are all good looking and done with taste, had a look at your fb page  :tu:
Compliments and thanks for your work. Is really nice and instructive to play with all of them.
Cheers

Thank you Layzer for clarification

kevin brown wrote:Nope, no presets. Three reasons: I built these originally for my own use only and I do mostly textures/ambient and I like to come at these fresh each time. Second, since these are mostly emulations of vintage hardware, I wanted to force myself to 'experience' them the way folks had to back in the day. Third - um, I'm lazy.

Ha! You've created over 50 synths (plus numerous variations)

I wouldn't exactly call that lazy . ;)

Will MrJx and the PG238 get parameter naming too ?
:tu: All is good

Post

Added today: M, Rolend PG-238, and Mx-Jr.

Yesterday, I got mOdyCat and Rolend SH-75 done.

Not many left!

Patches created in non parameter named synths (PG238 / System 101 and SH75) no longer work in these
new builds.
Try these few patches in older builds and then in the new build https://db.tt/Kc5Q4Ool

Also discovered DCO-2 in PG-238 needs to have it's mix level turned up to full in order to hear it. :?

64 bits and works on OSX ?

Nice, but sounding like the original is even more important aint it

DD:

Wow - don't know what I was smokin' when I put that PG-238 osc2 env control together! - fixed now, thanks for catching that.

Numanoid: 32 bits, Windows only.

Regarding ZMZ 2000, I don't know if your making a joke, or you didn't follow my original post - it's based on the SMS 2000, which was a synth that never actually existed. Some claim they actually saw and maybe played one, but even those claims are very suspect - so basically nobody knows what it actually sounded like.

Actually, I just read your post regarding my Buchla emulations and now I know you weren't joking.

In case you really care - the Buchla approximations are:
-SystemOne D
-SystemOne E
-The Dodeca 258c
-The Music Weasel

I think he was making a joke. Or maybe had a bad day and didn't pay attention.
Numanoid reads everything here at KVR, and writes half of it :D
