Let me do the math...
$298 = $199 for Zebra2 + $99 for Dark Zebra = Zebra2 + Dark Zebra + Zebra3.
$249 for Zebra3 = Zebra3.
Seems like a good enough deal to me.
Confucamus.

or $229 = $199 for Zebra 2 + $30 for Zebra 3 = Zebra 2 and Zebra 3

Exactly, I understood that right away. I think it is quite clear, the tweet from Urs I linked to is solely about Repro:

"Once Repro-5 comes out there'll just be "u-he Repro" containing 1 & 5. Owners of Repro-1 will be upgraded automatically. Sound good?"

Sound's very good to these ears
There is also the CAT synth when released :) Well, I hope this is still a coming product as I have never owned the hardware
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Cat has become a bit less prominent in our development focus... mostly because we spent such an enormous amount of time on Repro 1+5, and we'd rather devote more time on Zebra. But we'll see... let's get Repro 1+5 out asap. Once it's done we'll evaluate just how much effort a Cat emu would cost us.

Zebra 3 first please...

Post

Indeed :-) Z3 first)

Is the Cat treasured by musicians for its features and sound or is just really from a nerd/technological point of view something wonderful to emulate?

Although I will admit I wasn't much in support of a Repro-1, which not only surprised the hell out of me how much I love it, and to me it is indeed the best sounding software synth I have ever played or owned.

Yes, forget the Cat (already have one), we want the dogs bollocks....Zebra 3. :D

I still really like the idea of U-he putting out museum quality recreations of classic analogs, especially those that are somewhat off the beaten path. From my perspective (and I'm using some hyperbole here), Zebra is too complex and a synth nerd's dream, but I'm just a dumb musician. Other folks are going to find classic analogs far too limiting and are looking for new timbres. There's going to be a lot of people who are more interested in one or the other, and a lot who would be interested in both types of products. In an ideal world, U-he would have the development resources available to create both the Zebra 3's of the world, and the museum pieces, pleasing both types of customers. I liked the original idea of having the interns and new guys/gals knock out these simpler emulations, but perhaps the expectation that anything this complex could be done in a simple manner was a little too optimistic.

I vote for Z3 too, but i didn't see Urs asking something -:)

That is very sad news.
Murderous duck!

No rush Urs. Btw, you got other synths you plan on emulating?

Thanks Urs for the info :)

I'm glad that you still consider Cat. I also agree with that Z3 has the priority of development here of course. I just begin to like working with specific emulations more, especially ones like RePro-1 and Diva because of how great they sound in the mix with very characteristic sounds :) So, I hope Cat will be a great addition to such setup.

Btw, thanks a lot for the very generous gift for RePro-1 owners :D

Same chip in Cat SRM, but completely different circuit. Cat and Cat SRM have very much got a filter topology like no other. Only Cat SRM II has a classic ladder filter (SSM 2044).
