Compyfox wrote:Hah... the second PDF talks about (new) Fender spring reverb tanks for 20USD... not anymore these days...

Of course... made by Belton in Corea nowadays...

Post

Hm... interesting... you just need to know the sources then...

Quick Google Fu:
Reverb Tank - Belton, 4AB3C1B - 2 spring unit, 20USD plus shipping and VAT
A 3 spring unit by Accutronics is 27USD on avg

Through various places even...

Might be interesting for experiments outside of guitar amp use... thanks, jens

Thanks, skiltrip. You've really saved my day... after I spent another 45 bucks on a plug-in this afternoon. I've never actually looked at my plug-in buying addiction from your perspective - but you're absolutely right. :)

Good thing is that software doesn't clutter up your room - which can be helpful...

Post

oh...look...it's another light saturation plugin with light compression with a few EQ curves A B and C and a tape speed knob which filters out the high end as you decrease the tape speed...

at least there's a tape stop function - that looks cool

I haven't really bothered to check because there has been no reason to check, but I have had 4 instances in various MixFx slots and haven't had an issue, or anything that made me think it was CPU hungry.

It gets higher with track Count. I made a test session with 16 stereo tracks and it hit 90%.

Thanks for posting that. I'm continuing to demo it so I'll keep experimenting.

Try putting it on the main bus in that same project... Leaving
the rest in place. This seems to be when the problems arise.

*nvm, my mistake, anyway, It has issues for me, maybe related to
something else. They are a bit inconsistent though.

Post

Weird, I'm getting a ton of cpu with only two instances. wtf...

Image

Edit: Ok, I was running Impact as multitimbral. The cpu increases with each track
routed through the bus. Seems possibly related to the crosstalk, limit the number
of sources for a bus and the cpu use goes way down. The presonus console
doesn't have this problem. Additionally, 32 bit maths, seem very inefficient on my system.

Anyway, compared to the presonus Mix FX, Tape is highly inefficient for me.
I read that Softube is still working on a way to get it to work with 64 bit precision.
Hopefully, they will improve its efficiency when they get it working as they
would like. For now it was just a compromise to get it working for release
I guess.

Oh... look... somebody figured out what is happening while using a tape machine.

Except for the interaction of these... "separate effects"... not to mention noise, wow and flutter.
