Of course, and that's not really the point here as most of the participants, I think (tell me if I'm wrong) are not audio professionals but rather people with interests. Maybe some will become truly professionals, who knows. In this context one can take any tool available to learn and progress and produce output. One does not need Pro Tools to produce sensible output.zvenx wrote: But I would be exceedingly surprised if in the Audio world (our world here) where pro tools is King that linux has made much inroads into what I consider lots of serious audio work.....But maybe my definition of serious and lots are different than others.
It went out of the audio realm because some started to shoot at Linux in general. Like this other chap who is saying that LibreOffice is not used in businesses.
I quite agree. And again that's not the point in this KVR context. As somewhat of a parallel, elsewhere in KVR/Instruments we can read about people using obsolete synths. I actually got two recently (Sax Lab and CrX from LinPlug) and although rendered obsolete by now are working great and are providing nice colours. This is to say that Bitwig and Mixbus32C on Linux, plus all u-he plugins (and eventually Zebra3zvenx wrote: So I am not 'fighting down' linux in general. It has advantages in other fields, I just don't think it is happening in audio or see signs it is about to be happening in Audio and for developers to spend precious R&D time and money to develop for a fringe OS (to the Audio world) just doesn't make much sense to me, and I don't see it happening.
