I've just been playing with Captain Beat which comes with the Captain Chords collection and the workflow with that is pretty neat and you can drag the midi it creates straight out for another unit like XO to use. It has a bunch of pre-rolled fills that are pretty good. Worth a look IMO.

I'm sure I'm being dense and sorry for continually misunderstanding, but that reads to me like exactly what I tried, where I got the error message saying it can't be done because it is already there (?) I'd added an 8 bit sample folder, then dragged in a subfolder of that from Finder to the main space to no avail.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Sep 17, 2020 9:04 pmNo, sorry, folders whose contents you already scanned.
Like I have the full Samples From Mars and ask XO to scan that in as one monolithic folder, but if I want to filter to only see samples in Space from a specific MPC I can drag that specific MPC subfolder on to Space and it shows only the MPC samples.

You need to do some remapping by dragging MIDI notes around - kick, snare and clap map fine, but CapBeat CH maps to XO's Flex1 and the others don't map directly to anything. It doesn't take more than a minute or two in my DAW, but YMMV.JiggSaw wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 3:20 amDo all of the drum hits line up?WatchTheGuitar wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 2:15 am I've just been playing with Captain Beat which comes with the Captain Chords collection and the workflow with that is pretty neat and you can drag the midi it creates straight out for another unit like XO to use. It works for me.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2020 7:21 amI'm sure I'm being dense and sorry for continually misunderstanding, but that reads to me like exactly what I tried, where I got the error message saying it can't be done because it is already there (?) Specific example I have set my folder
Y:\SAMPLES-FROM-MARS
in XO's Sample Folders tab page as one of the folders it is to scan, scanned it
then dragged the entire folder
Y:\SAMPLES-FROM-MARS\909_from_mars
from Windows Explorer onto the SPACE and it then filtered the contents to just show those TR-909 samples in that folder.
Not sure if it's relevant, but are you up to date and on the latest patch?
I'm on Win10x64 and XO version is 1.2.0 64 bit build 200525

I'm on a MacBookPro away from base at the moment WTG, but I can check over the weekend and see if it works on the main Windows rig.

Yup drag and drop filtering working on Windows - very nice!
EDIT - and turned out I'd skipped an update on the Mac, so did that now and the same trick works on the mac too. Good stuff!

One more question - there's still no way to import midi, right? That would be really handy.

Nope. Export only for now. Saying that, with only a 4 bar A and B pattern available it's not that much of a job to copy notes in manually.noiseboyuk wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2020 9:49 pm One more question - there's still no way to import midi, right? That would be really handy.

Point taken, but in terms of a workflow I'd appreciate a wider range of grooves that can be sorted by genre (as indeed the factory ones can). Also something to be said for having access to vanilla starting points, without any of the modifications in the mixer which then get carried across as you audition.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 12:18 amNope. But these are minor gripes really. Everything is achievable with just a little bit of effort. XO spoils you by being so effortless in so many ways, its tempting to get carried away in search of complete perfection.

Well, it's quite fun to just drag each node to a random spot for each colour which probably takes about 15 secs, and then start cycling.
I'm getting quite addicted to the filter, typing in anything that comes to mind. Inevitably at some point I just type "zap", cycle til I have some amazing Kraftwerk thundering out of the speakers.
