The Ultra is not a laptop CPU
MacMini M2 Pro MacOS Tahoe ……… Reason 14

All the many PC/Intel chip comments should be deleted as off topic.

If someone like Jim Roseberry wants to post comparisons, he can start a comparison thread and post there, especially since he is basically advertising his business with every post. It's a form of clever spam.

You get anti apple BS in every thread where they're mentioned here. This particular straw man is pretty annoying though, the M2 Studio Ultra looks to be a great machine, and we have some PC hardware seller comparing the fastest i9 to a Mac Mini, and no one bats an eye. Some things never change, and this is one of them. :dog:

But they did, and that would be patently obvious if Apple were overclocking M2 processors with 280W instead of 24W.

That's comedy...
The only reason I responded in this thread... is because someone specifically asked how the M2 stacks up against the 13900k.
If the mods want to delete my posts, I'm not losing any sleep (or business) over it.

And here you are, 16 posts later, still spamming a Mac thread with PC stuff and hawking your business.

So he is running a business and because of that, he is not allowed to post in a public forum? On a subject closely related to what he (and people close around the subject) has an interest in?

I am reading your comments on synths and most of the time I like them, but sometimes you seem completely irrational.

What is happening with you?

That sort of "inclusive" crap destroyed the internet. As if a compressor thread would automatically mean someone like a developer from Cytomic wouldn't be able to respond because he is selling...compressors.

I dont think we need to get personal 🤗.

We have all bad and good days.

On my side I am OK to have a point on Intel as it brings a global view of the ecosystem/market.
Surely it shouldn't be focused only on intel performance as it isn't the good thread for it.

Yeah, this is starting to get toxic again so sad..
For years, I have been using computers from both brands, enjoying working with both operating systems, and I have never felt attacked when someone criticizes either one. It's always the same people in this forum who angrily demand that others leave forum threads because they think it's their own product, their own baby whatever.. which is completely absurd. This intense defensive attitude is simply ridiculous, just like in the instrument forum. When someone likes synth A and not B it soon gets ugly.
I personally find Jim's input and comparisons really interesting and relevant to the topic. Please don't let yourself be influenced by this negativity.
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GTFO of this thread with that anti-negativity crap. This is KVR. :smack:

Yes Jim comparing a top of the line PC to a Mac Mini, at first calling it an “M2 Pro”, was very revealing, but not about the performance of Apple Silicon. The fact that people are defending this flagrant abuse of performance tests as somehow appropriate because he competes with Apple for sales to musicians is telling, but not about the “toxic” KVR thread it resides in.

Plus, the general gist that Apple is making “mobile” chips is just… stupid, and I don’t mean that as an insult. It’s short sighted to look at products like Apple Silicon and think that the thermal advantages are only good for low powered mobile devices. This has happened before with the Intel transition from Centrino mobile chips to the i7 i9 series, all more energy efficient chips than the Xeons that could be ramped up to higher performances and cores for years. You see it right now with multi core results from 64 core AMD machines being crushed by those same thermal advantages with the i9. Apple Silicon in its infancy is looking to do the same, and of course the things that work for it will be copied and used in other chips from other manufacturers. [and to the point, manufacturers that care about making the fastest machine out there] Every new faster machines is a thermal issue solved, every advancement in performance at every level is a possible next big breakthrough in overall performance.

I’m saying the conversation isn’t what I would expect from someone interested in the tech, but from someone invested in a certain outcome.

Which audio drivers should I use for my Mac?

Is my Mini built -in sound card full-duplex? (I wanna listen to mp3s on WinAmp while I’m composing in my DAW).
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

I almost answered that like it was serious

I agree with that. I use both pc and mac and normally I consider both are the same roughly but now I feel mac has taken an edge in usability because of this thermal advantage.

Full duplex.... winamp. Words I didn't hear since a long time....
Does the m2 support mmx instruction set?
