Looking at the Benn Bundle, is the version of Beam in this bundle different or limited to the standard Beam?
The blurb mentions 3 nodes:
Wondering whether to get Taps and Portal alone or the Benn Bundle.
The blurb mentions 3 nodes:
Can Portal be used to create feedback networks without Beam?Taps plugin (VST3/AU/AAX) + Taps in BEAM (up to 3 nodes)
Portals in BEAM (up to 3 nodes)
Wondering whether to get Taps and Portal alone or the Benn Bundle.

I was confused too at first. It's standard Beam with the addition of Taps and Portals.VariKusBrainZ wrote: Sat Nov 15, 2025 1:12 pm Looking at the Benn Bundle, is the version of Beam in this bundle different or limited to the standard Beam?

Taps can be used separately and within Beam, but Portals can only be used within Beam.

Nice one, so it comes with Grains, Reverb and Haze?

Yes, but not Volt or Time.VariKusBrainZ wrote: Sat Nov 15, 2025 3:24 pm Nice one, so it comes with Grains, Reverb and Haze?tlvid wrote: Sat Nov 15, 2025 1:30 pmI was confused too at first. I don't own this and probably won't without being able to demo it (yes, I know I can get a refund, it's not the same) but it looks and sounds super interesting. Hopefully they reinstate the RTO thing because I would rather pay something small for an extended "demo" than fuss around with organising a refund.
I'm curious what Benn Jordan had to with this?
I do have to say though, the "Taps with Benn Jordan" tag line on the plugin itself is a bit cheesy. I think I am just thoroughly sick of youtube though, don't mind me.

You can pay in installments at Plugin Boutique and cheaper than buying direct without the tax hit

It's ok, my favorite modules remain time and volt...
*Personally, I think an independant delay should have been included from the gitgo, ymmv
*I have to admit, it is a pretty nice delay on it's own, despite the missing feedback portals.
I like the comb for the pitch mode and the spacing control's are pretty nice
*You can delete the preset packs you don't own from the appdata/roaming folder in win 11 if you don't want to look at them. They are installed automatically and no way to hide them is provided in the UI.

What do you mean by "missing feedback portals"? The delay was packaged with the portal effect when I bought it.pekbro wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 9:23 pm *I have to admit, it is a pretty nice delay on it's own, despite the missing feedback portals.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

i meant there's no individual plugin (or equivalent) for the portal effect.

How would the portal effect work in an individual plugin?pekbro wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 11:57 ami meant there's no individual plugin (or equivalent) for the portal effect.

You just need some aux I/O... but that would involve a dedicated plugin as opposed to some minor layout changes. That's the significant thing about writing this in Elementary, BEAM is basically a web browser.

Just downloaded and enjoying playing, I do think it brings something different to the mix. One thing I would like to see would be slower LFO rates. Currently, the slowest is 0.10Hz, I would like to see 0.01 or even lower. Right-click to be able to type in values would be great as well.
[edit]
After spending 2 days with it, I don't think an effect has inspired me as much as this, and I own Infiltrator, Portal and Shaperbox. The sound quality is pristine.
[edit 2]
When bringing up the preset menu, it would be great to see a preview of the patch, possibly a small snapshot on the right-hand side of the menu in that blank area.
It would also be nice to be able to continue seeing the current patch behind the preset menu, maybe using an opacity slider.

Lunacy Audio and VirtualRiot have teamed up to bring us a new standalone effect, and effect node for BEAM called Bismuth. I think it's a fantastic addition to their multi-effect bundle, and it provides even more sound-shaping possibilities. This company really knows how to design creative effects that are fun to use, and gorgeous to look at. Here's a quote from their website:
"Crystallize your sound with Bismuth, a new Lunacy effect designed in collaboration with one of EDM’s most respected and iconic producers, Virtual Riot. Bismuth is an iridescent color resonator which can transform raw sound into something tonal, melodic, and alive. By introducing resonant filters to any incoming sound, Bismuth generates lush harmonic layers tuned to specific chords and scales. Like light passing through a prism, what goes in clean comes out fractured into hidden harmonics, shimmering tones, and vivid, colorful textures. Designed for BEAM, our multi-effects engine, Bismuth, is also offered as a standalone effect plugin."
The price is listed at $39, though I was able to upgrade my full BEAM Bundle for only $21. That's an insanely good price for the dazzling effects that this is capable of!! I can see how Bismuth would be great for EDM producers, as well as those who lean more towards ambient and soundtrack music. BEAM continues to get even better, and it's definitely one of my favorite multi-effects to experiment with right now. Go check it out at https://lunacy.audio/products/bismuth/

Just gets better and better - I like the way they are adding functionality gradually - I'm always excited to see what will come next. Prices for the updates are very reasonable.
I hope they add an algo reverb at some point - I'm sure their take on it will be creative
