...entitled hyperbolic whining over sums that amount to a short visit to a pub or a budget meal in a casual restaurant? Completely other.
95 USD for a budget meal or trip to a pub? Right, sure, whatever you say dude.

P.S. it's overpriced.
Uhhh… no. 🙄

Full price is 99€. Discounted price for previous license owners is 79€. So, a discount of –20%.

That wasn’t enough for some people, they wanted discounts from –30% to –50%, etc., calling the current discount… insufficient, with all kinds of hyperbolic language used to describe both the current pricing and Ohm Force.

So, a whole lot of noise and bad air about 20-30€, hence my reference to the pub visit or a budget meal. Ok?

Did that help clarify things?
The crossgrade is in my shopping cart at Ohmforce and is 95 USD. Some of us live in the states, you know. Can you read ok? I wrote: 95 USD. You replied with "Uh, no. It's 79 euros. Did that help clarify things?"

Yes, it clarified that you're a bottomless jerk, but that's about it. As I originally stated, it costs 95 USD for me. Thanks for continuing your pointless, holier-than-though barage of condescension for no reason whatsoever, and with incorrect information. :tu:

Half this thread:

Some people at KVR: "95 USD is too expensive for my tastes, think I"ll pass"

A couple people at KVR: "OH MY GAWD THE ENTITLEMENT HERE IS SO UNREAL! GET OVER YOURSELF AND SUPPORT THE DEV YOU MISERABLE UNGRATEFUL SHEEPLE, WHY ARE YOU OVERREACTING SO MUCH !!??!!

I crossgraded for $71 and never owned ohmicide, tho I did have a lic for infinity. I even had some cash back on my CC so I actually paid $67...

That's the frustrating part, if you do own Infinity then you get a decent upgrade, but if you don't care about Infinity (I have far too many delays, and I don't like it as much as the old one), then your upgrade price is bad.

I'll be honest, I hate stacked upgrades, I bought into enough bundle deals where I only use one or maybe two out of 20 odd plugins, (I'm looking at you Arturia and NI), just allow for a decent upgrade and we're good. As it stands I'm upgrading a utility I need for the same price that comes in at around 35% of what it costs new, because that's how I want developers to respond, not by trying to blame Apple etc.

Meanwhile with the current sale Eventide Crush Station is $19. The flagship H3000 Factory Mk II with it is less than Ohmicide by a dollar. :borg:

I saw on Google it was 198 euros, so a little over 200usd. Then i went to the website and saw it was 119 $. Now thats doable for this beasty. Must have been for a bundle or something. I loved Ohmz goofy gui's and plugins back in the day. Just may cop this one. Never owned the og, maybe i pirated a copy when that was trendy to do early 2000's if i renumber right.

Ironically, if the price normal would be 150, i wonder if it would be such an issue. The gap of $20 difference between upgrade and full price you can look at as either greedy, or generous - depending on your perspective - atleast be grateful the full asking price isn't like $200.

Eh, i don't this is helpful, but just sayin.

I agree with the points about the knob physics. I'm not a huge fan. UI scaling would be nice as well.

As far as the price crying, I enjoy that, of course, but not nearly as much as I'm enjoying the sound that OhmicideS makes a it mutates my original signals. Top shelf destruction. I have most distortion stuff out there. For people who think you can get other plugs to sound like this: go do that. You are a gifted sound designer. Make Saturn do this stuff. If I could, I would. But I'm just too dumb.

I really wish people would stop talking about the sound. lool

You are discussing with a shill. That guy "dhruan" has 24 posts on KVR since 2008, and the last 21 are recent and all about defending/promoting Ohm Force.

Just sayin'.

JerGoertz wrote: Sun Jul 13, 2025 5:02 am Just demo'd it, Ohmicide-S has some interesting "dynamic distortion" effects (lfo or envelope-controlled, apparently) which I'm not sure if I can get elsewhere. It sounded fine to me. Not sure how much I need this, but it's on my radar...
Saturn2 can do that too.
And so can Coldfire, Pyros, Rift, Ravage, MDistortionMB, Cyberdrive, NI Driver, Softube Harmonics, Shaperbox, and many, many more...

Hell, every daw that has modulators can do it with every distortion on the planet.

Yeah I was curious how this differed or might be a better experience than Rift, which is my current go-to for creative distortion. But the only real differentiator seems to be the frequency band splitting and the multiple built-in modulation options.

I can cover the modulation with Bitwig's modulators. The band splitting is something I'm never really inclined to do, but if I wanted it, I do have Saturn or alternatively the Freq Split utility in Bitwig to manage separate instances of Rift. And while configuring 6 different distortions for Pre, 4 frequency bands, and Post could lead to some interesting results, I'm not sure it's a level of detail I'd want to go into very often. I almost never use Saturn even though it does exactly that.

So while the modulations and band splitting are nice to have in one distortion plugin, and there are probably some really good presets that take advantage of these things, I'm not sure the whole package is worth the hefty price to me.

Otherwise looks like a lot of fun. All the different models actually seem really good. Maybe if i didn't already own Rift, I'd consider this one.

I dunno if you can really reduce plugins to "it's a distortion" plugin.

Rift, for example, is a very unique sounding plugin due to its bipolar specific features.

Never been a fan of Coldfire. It sounds very plasticky to me.

Cyberdrive is cool but kind of convoluted.

Mdistortion like all Melda plugins has everything but I struggle with the UIs.

Saturn specialises more in saturation and overdrive. It has a few more extreme algos but its bread and butter are the more conventional distortions.

Ohmicide has always been on the extreme end of distortion. More about making a sound almost unrecognisable and the new version continues in that vein.

I think any attempts to replicate the functionality and workflow of specific plugins kind of misses the point and you end with a "we've got ohmicide at home, dear" situation.

There's a unique combination of parameters along with workflow that makes a plugin what it is.
