This thread has made me extremely excited. I've bought a lot of synths over the years, but I've never really bonded with anything as much as I have with Absynth since I first bought it in 2007. I'm still using it daily, but was just sort of waiting for it to stop working with a system/DAW update or something. I'm really looking forward to this...more than almost any product announcement I can think of.

This is a disaster - what on earth will KVR have to complain about?

So I'm less likely to upgrade Komplete 15 when it doesn't include their update. It would be a complete no brainer if Abaysnth 6 was included. For me like an old timey days upgrade where two major NI plugins (Kontakt 8 and Abysnth 6) get updated in a single Komplete upgrade. As it stands I'm assuming those of us on 14 will have to wait until June to get Komplete 16 with Absynth 6 and Kontakt 8, or upgrade outside of Komplete.
Was thinking the same thing. I’ll probably just update absynth 6 at a hopefully reasonable price and not worry about komplete version update since it’s all mostly just new expansion packs anyways.

Yes me too, I never gave up hope that NI could be persuaded to rectify their mistake in dropping such a seminal and unique synth and effect, and am delighted they came to their senses

Not sure what I'm going to do? I suppose upgrading Kontakt to 8 now and waiting to see what the upgrade price of Absynth will be makes the most sense. I agree lately it's been their stupid drive consuming PLAY series that gets the most attention, and Komplete looks less interesting to me because of this. Just load your rompler content into Kontakt FFS? No one is fooled into thinking PLAY instruments are anything but Kontakt libraries anyway.

Maybe NI are getting jelly about Zebra 3 - taking up where they used to "reign". Or is even uhe not on there radar?

i can't remember the last time i opened Kontakt. been using UVI Falcon and built in DAW samplers for ages now. even uninstalled the kontakt factory libraries to free up some HD space. would much rather roll my own in different samplers that are a bit lighter and focused on a current task than fire up a "let this make a track for you" type thing.. not that kontakt isn't super capable of doing what i'd want.. it just fell out w/me a few years back and i never went back to it.

At this point, with their legacy synths and Reaktor instruments that are supported but haven't received feature updates for over a decade, Komplete has more-or-less felt like a bloated bundle of Kontakt instruments, with exception of some Brainworx and iZotope additions and a few nice effects. I personally feel that Komplete needs to be repackaged somehow, but in order to do that, either their legacy stuff needs updated or new non-Kontakt products need to emerge for Komplete to feel more like what it used to be...and Absynth 6 is obviously a bold step in that direction. So, it seems they are doing that work and I'm really hoping they stay the course.

tbh, that image reminded me of some synth concepts of synplant - morphing from a single source maybe from ai. That might be interesting.

I always loved Absynth but, for whatever reason, never got around to making sounds for it. Something I fully intend on rectifying with v6. :tu:

Even just mutating existing patches is pretty fun.
