Pianos are pretty good.. but so far I'll say the bundled (as they claim 'free') 1GB library has been really good. It has a collection of samples from most of the IK libraries.. Miroslav, SampleMoog, SampleTron, etc.. as well as from the XpansionTank2 libraries..

The way the deal here is setup.. you order one for 50 bucks and then after thats registered, go to the promotions section of the website to individually select the other libraries you want.. I'd recommend going straight for the SampleTank XT 1GB library first as then you can test out the various patches from all the XpansionTank2 libraries before making your choices set in stone. I'm hoping we get to 6x so I can pickup another I neglected, but from the 1GB library have determined would have been useful to me.. hmm hehe

a bunch of drums , 5 guitars/basses and the rest is all keyboards and organs.
sounds good but it's nothing too spectacular.
Thanks :) Do the keys and organs make it worth it? Says there is a Prophet there which should be interesting. Hmmm, it was selling for over $200 originally so someone must think it has value :?

Anyone else grab this title? Is there an instrument list somewhere? Would like to hear samples if possible...

You might want to skip the Vintage Collection if you already have the Bass, Guitar, and Vintage Keyboard xpansion tanks. Everything with the exeption of 2 organ patches,4 drumkits, a brass patches and a vocal patch is included in those three xpansion tanks.

Hopefully someone can post a sound list for you. I'm not 100% sure, but I have a feeling that this is one of the bonuses we got in a GB a couple of years ago (around the time of Bank's Bank). You were probably in that one, so it is possible you have this stuff. If you have any SampleTank folders with "Rare" in the name, those were from that Group Buy and might have the same content.

Thanks VitaminD. There is actually another one in the Wild Card choices called:
DownloadableSoundz.com wrote:SampleTank Rare Vintage Collection (MSRP:$229) This exclusive 1 gigabyte collection covers a range of popular vintage instruments from the 60's & 70's used by artists such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Yes, Genesis...
I'd like to know what is in that, but I still think it is quite likely that we have this stuff blueman.

I have confirmed that the pack which VitaminD just listed *IS* the content of what was Bank's Bank (from a couple of years back). And in researching this, I discovered that I already have most of SampleArp Solo (from that same Rare and Vintage Bundle Group Buy from April 2008)... so I don't suppose I'll need to pick that one, afterall.

Androidlove, could you possibly tell me the name of the preset that you used at the beginning of that SampleArp Solo audio demo I liked so much. I would like to check my SampleTank library to make sure I have that instrument or not. Thanks! :-)

[quote="Ceej"]I agree, the GUI overall could certainly use a little TLC. It'd really be nice if the scrollwheel worked when using the VST version, for instance. (Maybe there's some host-based reason that can't be possible, but it's still really annoying.)

I can use the scrollwheel on my PC with Cubase and Sampletank. So it must bea problem with your system.

Post

I don't think so: mousewheel does not work here either. So I use this:
http://asseca.com/wiki/MGUI/SampleTank25GUI

-- as a great bonus, you can access SampleTank Instrument Browser, Combi Preset-Loader and FX-selector using cursor keys and shortcut keys. Makes patch browsing much, much better.
-- if you like it, then refer asseca at eSoundz.

Yes works with Cubase but not Ableton Live or Acid

Nor Sonar, which is what I use.

Interesting that it DOES work in Cubase; implies that it's at least partly host-related.

Looking forward to trying out SampleTank25GUI - thanks for the pointer!

Hmm - SampleTank25GUI seems to work very well! I'm not even sure what most of it is supposed to do, but simply having it in place makes the scrollwheel work on the patch browser, so I'm a pretty happy camper right there. Thanks a ton, DarkStar! Everyone (except maybe those using Cubase) oughta download and use this.

FYI, it's a little persnickety. It didn't work at first even though I installed it as instructed. It took me a few minutes to find the asData/asseca.log file to debug the problem (it couldn't find the SampleTank .dll file, even though it was in the same directory as the sampletank25gui .dll file). Then a couple more minutes to find the asData/inifiles/SampleTank2.5_GUI.ini file, where I was able to modify the path so it loaded up. But, now it works great!
