I'm still here, albeit intermittently. I did some research into your question, mainly the two bands that you obviously made up. To my surprise, they did actually exist, but I got somewhat depressed when I looked at The Haywains' website, and got told I was visitor number 427. I've been back a few times now, and bumped it up to 431. Still, not a lot of information out there about them...

More clues needed. Is it one connection between all the acts, or different connections between each of them, in sequence?

It's one connection, some element(s) of the answer has a connection to each of the acts.
