I’d just look to send back only because if you attempt to bend it back but somehow cause more damage, you won’t be able to send it back after that.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 4:40 pm Straw poll time. Just got a Samson self assembly rack delivered that I bought through Amazon, but apparently fulfilled by Bax Music.
Just noticed there's a bent part at the top of one of the sides that means unless bent back somehow the top of the rack won't be able to fit on top.
I am so unhandy that I don't even currently own a pair of pliers to attempt bending it back even if pliers would work, but I guess the straw poll question is - if I do get some pliers do you think I'd be able to bend this back sufficiently for this to be OK without impacting integrity? The metal's far too thick to do this without toolage.

I'm pretty sure the bent part doesn't affect the alignment of the nearby screw-hole so I should be able to screw it in ok provided the top can actually fit over the (currently convex) bit of metal.
I hate sending things back because of the turnaround time, especially with all the Brexit fun we've been having, and just want a functional rack for my units I don't care if it looks perfect or not. But, if it's never going to work then I guess I'll have to. Also, anyone had dealings with Amazon/Bax on this - would they accept sending back just the affected part or would I have to send back everything? - it's a heavy package.
I’d also check the return policy. Most fulfilled by Amazon products are covered for returns especially when damaged.

Good plan. Then, because they delivered it earlier than they expected to...
lol. I think I'm borrowing some pliers, but keeping my options open for tomorrow.

because it's not due, you can't be refunded? bollocks!
call bax, or even the manufacturer, they should be willing to send the part. rather than the whole
if you call the manufacturer, they have a warehouse full of parts, if you f**k it up trying to bend it back, they may not be so willing as then it could look like you f**ked it up

It happens to me all the time, unfortunately. The worst is when the carrier includes a photo of the delivered package to the clearly wrong building, but all I can do is wait until tracking is updated in their system.

but tool marks, depending on who you get inspecting "if" you have to return first, could do the "well it looks like he tried to do some diy to alter it?" and get arsey, remember, some people are just arseholes.
most of us, if you rang, would have the part out the next day. and we wouldnt be having this conversation, because youd expect no different, we are having this conversation, because you know as well as i, some people are arseholes

That looks like a more of a job for a hammer than a pair of pliers, but I cant see the side of it.

Ended up sorting it with a small monkey wrench and bending it down. Once I had built it it turned out it wasn’t quite as critical a place as you have a pillar next to it which holds one side of the rack mount holes and that’s what presents the corner for the rack roof to sit on instead.

Nice ^^
I am still pretty interested in those headless Strandberg guitars for some reason. My guitar is too heavy and they look kinda cool.
I need a good distortion pedal, any one have any recommendations? Stereo would be nice but I don't expect too much on that. I like smooth harmonically rich distortion rather than super dirty mostly.
A tube distortion pedal would be nice probably.

I like my Blackstar HT Dist, not super dirty but not super rich either, I use it more for a warm boost with a bit of dirt...has a bit of adjustment. Mostly I just go through my Elektron Analogue Drive, can always find something I like in there.
