Ceej... you are my hero!

It turns out that I *do* have that organ, and when I found it in the subfolders of synths from the Rare and Vintage GB of 2008, that I had mentioned, I was able to find all of the other SampleArp Solo instruments as well. So now I know for sure that I already attained that pack's contents. I guess I should try using it sometime!
You're welcome! 8) Yeah, I went through all the patch lists on IK's site and compared with all the stuff I'd gotten in other group buys (and I remembered thinking "Abacba" was spelled weird, that's how I knew to check for that when it was mentioned here). That Rare and Vintage group guy included I think everything in the SampleArp pack, as well as the vast majority of the Vintage Keys pack, so I knew not to pick either of those up!

I was surprised that the World Instruments pack does NOT seem to have much if any overlap, though, so I went ahead and picked that one up. It's certainly a breadth-not-depth kind of collection, but there's some tasty stuff in there. The didgeridoo drones in particular are pretty fun.

The loops from IK and SR leave blank spaces above and below the loops. Does anyone know how to do this?
The developers probably have a special command to do this, but I'll tell you what I do to solve this problem.

You need to create tiny snippets of silent audio, and then name them with the note name where you want the silence to begin. You need one silence sample for each end of your instrument if you want to constrain both ends.

Example filename: E0 v127 Silence.wav (which will center the sample at E0 and be triggered at any velocity).

If the low note of your instrument starts at F0, then the above sample would result in everything lower being silent.

If you want to add velocity layers, you can add up to 8 of them, but one of them HAS to be v127, and the rest would all be smaller numbers. Use the "v" before the number for ST to understand that you are assigning a velocity at which that sample will be triggered. And include the note name for the sample to be centred on that note.

I think you can put the instrument name, note name and velocity in any order, as long as you are consistant.

So for example:

Piano A2 v127.wav
Piano A2 v100.wav
Piano B3 v127.wav
Piano B3 v100.wav

Or:

A2 Piano v127.wav
B3 Piano v127.wav, etc.

You're really doing me good today Ceej. :-) I love World Instruments, and use them all the time. But somehow, I really had it in my mind that I already had all the content in this World Instruments pack--I was convinced of that, and not even considering it.

And after reading your post, I started searching for some of the instruments in the Instrument list and discovered that I don't have them in my ST Library. So you've helped me yet again! Believe me, I have joined twice already, and the World Instruments pack would have been my very first pick if I'd realized that I didn't have those instruments. So thanks for directing my attention to that important fact! :hyper:

I was thinking of joining a third time. Now I have more incentive to do it right away. I wouldn't mind going through those World Instruments this weekend.

Perhaps Peter or Squids ought to start hinting at what might happen when we hit 4000. Do we have a target for 7x1? Or do you have something else up your sleeves. The IK newsletter suggested that there would be something...

I'm pretty sure I'm joining for a third time. I'm just trying to decide whether I should join now or after this hits 4000. I want my rocket booster to be used most effectively. ;-)

Yes, one option which may interest many of us who have joined via IK:
if (and when) we hit 4000, could we choose the 6th pack among the
"Squids specials", if the standard libraries won't offer anything we
wanted. H.

Dude that would be so sweet, I have all of the sample packs and i really don't care for the loops, it would be sweet to pick from "squids extras" for the bonus sets.

Heh! Well, you're welcome again. I'm glad someone else besides myself is getting some benefit from digging through all those patch lists...

Sorry guys, but I think the answer will be "no". Squids mentioned about a month ago that IK's system is set up to deal with this GB with the packs available and won't be changing. In fact, you can't even do what you expressed if you joined through eSoundz. You get your free 6th pack automatically through the automated system, and the choices remain the same.

And the chances of them doing anything special which would require anything manual on their end (when dealing with 4000+ joiners) is pretty unlikely. :-(

But you could do what I am doing... select some of the packs that you wouldn't otherwise have considered. Every pack will have some cool things you'll likely find some sort of use for one day. At $25, you can't go wrong. And grab at least one loop pack (like maybe the World Grooves, since extra percussion is always useful) to familiarize yourself with playing loop slices. You might like it.

It's a must for anything that goes for an old black and white cinema vibe.
Red5un, or anyone else who has downloaded the bonus Tron pack from eSoundz, what are some of the most interesting patches? Does it provide a good selection of mellotron sounds, i.e., if you don't have SampleTron, or is it just a few odds & ends?

Post

It's more quirky odds and ends than the standard stuff... but for free I think that's perfect! Why not?

Anyway, the only way to get the Squids Extras is to join on http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?Prod ... ode=XT2KVR

There is yet another surprise relating to esoundz. I cannot reveal what it is yet but I will sometime this coming week. I want to thank everyone that has purchased this from esoundz for your support. I hope you enjoy the extras! I also want to thank those that have the libraries for helping to explain the cross-over. I should have done that better or perhaps left out certain ones that were cross-over but... in the end I wanted you guys to have a huge choice. It should be fairly obvious on most of them which are. I'll see about providing some sound lists this week to help.

You are most welcome Squids. We are the ones who should be thanking.

Hey Squids! Sound lists would be super great. In your generosity, you have "burdened" us with a lot of choices! Looking for ways to make the smartest choice- and a sound list would be awesome.

Do we need to download our eSoundz bonus by May 31, or is that just when we need to "buy in"?

Thanks!

Does anyone happen to know if the Honky Tonk piano included in OmniSynth 2 is the same as the Honky Tonk in another collection (like maybe Sonik Synth 2 or in the Piano Collection 2)?
