I wouldn't hold your breath. That would be far too useful a function for them to implement!

Am I right in thinking that Reason 4 still won't allow you to maximise the window, and is stuck at 800 pixels wide (or whatever it is)? So even if you have a 22" monitor, you have to waste most of the screen space?

Post

Spend another 300 on another 22inch LCD and you will see the difference when pressing F5 F6 F7.
I looks fantastic spread over two screens. All the racks, drag and move the time line, resize the rack . As you know when you click Control F7 it gives all 3 sections . That SSL emulation is a killer. You are right about R4 and the 800pixels, but you can detach the midi editor and place it on a second screen to maximise your real estate.

Would you like a photo to get a visual.

Cheers

Record is indeed king on two monitors.
BTW Is the rack limited to two?

Post

No there is a TAB on the rack where you can move and drag sideways and back to the first screen but still able to use your mouse on the second screen and go through the rack one plug at a time if you want or even to the side. Very cool feature as well which I only just discovered . I am no power user by the way.

To anyone else that doesn't have dual monitor and good vga card then its time to invest. Cos this program is very good.

Cheers

Well, the Sound on Sound review is pretty positive...
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Sound on Sound in notorious for giving EVERYTHING a positive review.

Really. Amazing how that notoriety is news to me, then. Maybe 'notorious' means something else in your part of the world.

Exactly. And so MIDI already features so heavily you wouldn't think it would be that difficult to expand on it's functionality.

AH HAA!

Sorry, sorry, thought this was a Cubase thread.

What are they emulating with it? Are there any links to where they describe the painstaking work they put in over the years to accurately emulate the nuances of a particular SSL desk and the subequent ground-breaking optimisations?

I guess they aren't aware that a large amount of their Reason customers are laptop users. And even those with desktops often have laptops they work on as well. And it's a mess on a laptop screen. Not to mention that it's got it's own share of other oddities in the workflow. But the monitor thing just isn't as cut and dry. Besides, there should at least be a better than decent option for displaying things on one screen. And I personally don't think there is.

Also, how in the heck do you stretch audio without changing tempo? I've wondered this since the beginning of testing, though I admit I haven't researched it much. Can you really not stretch audio freely? That's a huge missed opportunity, IMO, if you can't.

My host is better than your host

THey are aware of that - they get all your system info when you register on their site. They just ignored the implications for laptop users, it would seem. But in the promo video the guy is using a laptop. Hey - who knows what they were thinking when they decided spreading the essential interface elements over three screens.

Yes - really horrible for laptop users. My main system is a 17" laptop, and ... ouch. It's pretty much unusable I would say, at least if you have ever tried some alternatives. My guess FWIW is that the Props are hoping to sell loads of Record boxes to people who never did try the alternatives (and did no research into the options available).

I don't think you can do that. So far as I could tell you have to change the project tempo to that of the loop, bring in the loop, then change the tempo back again. Although even that doesn't necessarily work.

Or of course... fork out the cash to buy (the extreemly overpriced) ReCycle programme and convert stuff to REX files, which conform. Same old...

How is the CPU usage in the final release?

What sort of CPU do you need to run the entire Push Me Down demo song without any cracks?
Orion Platinum, Muzys 2

The CPU usage is quite low. The Push Me Down demo song runs fine on my two years old 2 ghz dual core Vista laptop using the onboard soundchip and ASIO4ALL.
