But seriously, unless you are just doing audio and using the built-in plugs on these hosts, you are a retard. Any self-respecting fanboi will make sure you understand this!
-set you buffer to 1024
-stop using 3rd party fx. Only a fool would believe that these should work (even though they advertise they "should"
)
-only do "real" instrument takes. Never use anything that is faux.
-NEVER use soft synths (especially that one built in to studio one) or there will be problems.
-Never try to use a keyboard for midi (that should be done note/per)
-Never look at the cpu meter. If you hear crackling/pops then it's YOU and we have "vays" of making you understand this!
-Only studio one MODS know what they are talking about, the "caretaker" of the forum knows this w/o prejudiced..........(wait)........

Maybe someone here can help with this:
I have a project with number of scratch pads. There's six of them. I start deleting at number 6. I get all the way to scratch pad two, and when I try to delete it, Studio One 3 freezes. Every time.
I've tried deleting the S1v3 settings folder. MTC is also disabled.

I'd be curious to know how many people really bought Studio One 3 Artist. I saw quite a few copy of Professional sold here at the market place, but not a single copy of Artist. Plus i just can't imagine how they would sell many copies of it, with the lack of VST support... would have liked to upgrade my Studion One 2 Producer to Artist if it had VST support, and there was an upgrade path, but nope to both options, that's a bit sad really, and leaves me feeling that they really want you to buy Professional. Which is valid of course, but a bit disapointing for me, because they sort of got rid of the "small" version with this policy.

Artist: $99.99
VST/AU/Rewire: $79.99
MP3: $9.99
It looks different on the surface, but if you think more about it, you can't really do that with things like Cubase, buy the $100 version and then add stuff onto it if you want some stuff from the full version, without buying the full version. Artist already comes with all the same song page editing features and automation and all that as S1 Pro.
I think as Pro gets more and more features that trickle down to it, it will start to look more and more attractive as a "lego" daw.

$79,99 is a LOT for out-of-the-box functionality which most other hosts have (it's 86.96 € btw... just for 3rd party plugin support...). Just wondering about the idea behind it. Are there really people using such a sophisticated host WITHOUT 3rd party plugin support? IMO, it's a big mistake to provide that as an "addon". And to also cut most of the sound sets Producer had. Actually i'd even consider what you call the "buy what you need" package, if it was available together as an upgrade path from Producer. But no luck. I won't shell out about as much as it would be to upgrade to Professional from Producer. That doesn't make sense.

A lot of people feel that way. It seems pretty clear that PreSonus has not done a very good job effectively marketing that tier of the product. All anyone ever sees is paying to use plugins, which is a marketing failure imo.
It's really more just looking at what you do have in total when you spend the $190, how does that measure up in the market? Some of the stuff already there (audio bend, groove, automation) is beyond what most low tier products offer, but they really don't hammer that home, they expect it to be a no-brainer. Aside from a few audio plugins and the mastering section, there's no functional difference at all between Artist and Pro.
But yeah, that's just a marketing failure imo. If they sold Artist for $190 with all of that stuff already included nobody would even be talking about it.

Just to be clear, I don't think the lego approach is a bad idea, on the contrary, a lot of people get Artist with their hardware so it's actually a great approach to building the daw you want imo.
I do think they could do better communicating that, the concept, and explaining to people how similar Artist and Pro actually already are. Some people just can't afford $400 obviously so for like $290 you can mostly have it all, including all the new XT instrument content... or buy pieces as you go.
