Nevermind, found the quote

"Minimoog had a lot of differences between early and later serial numbers. Monark is emulating an early 2000s serial number, whereas Diva emulates a late 8000s serial number owned by Hans Zimmer."

But how well can the Minimoog emulate the Legend?
SLH - Yes, I am a woman, deal with it.

Post

I demoed it quiet intensively today.

Damm it, I regret having demoed it, cuz I'll go for it.

I have ni monark, but they are different enough.(and both are nice.)

Dang...

If you combine e.g. the new 24dB BPF and the polyphony in The Legend no Minimoog Model D (vintage or reissue) or any other Minimoog emulation could emulate this (Monark has a 12 dB BPF and it monophonic).

The Moog Modular had filter modules with a 24dB BPF. The Minimoog Voyager was able to use a dual filter with 24dB HPF and 24dB LPF to create a 24dB BPF (with a spacing control for the filters, no dedicated controls for both filters). Same with a 12dB BPF.
So the only option for a polyphonic Moog 24dB BPF as hardware would be a poly-chain of multiple Minimoog Voyagers and/or the rack version called Minimoog Voyager RME (rack mount edition).
In poly-chain mode (set in teh preferences) the first unit controls the others. I had tested that myself witha Little Phatty and Slim Phatty poly-chain at the Musikmesse.
Other new Moogs like e.g. Little Phatty or Sub 37 do not have a BPF and also no dual filter while this could be possible with the new super expensive Moog Modulars.

Speaking about the 12dB LPF mode besides The Legend this seems to be possible with e.g. Monark, Diva, Moog Minimoog Voyager (+ RME rack version), Moog Little Phatty (+ Slim Phatty rack), Moog Sub 37 and the Moog Modulars.

Anyway due to the fact that the LPF and BPF modes in The Legend are built on the filter topology of the vintage Minimoog ladder filter most of those hardware options could sound different including the Voyager (and how far a HPF/LPF combination there sounds to a dedicated BPF is another story).

A hint concerning Minimoog or The Legend patches in other Minimoog emulations like e.g. Monark or Diva.

Both The Legend and Monark do nicely nail the parameter ranges of the real thing (while The Legend seems to be sligtly better) and reprogramming patches between them should be possible quite easily. Anyway fine tuning could take some time and while i reprogrammed patch sheets for The Legend the fine tuning based on samples of the patches in the real thing often took longer than dialing in the values from the patch sheets. As the real Mini had no fine tune knob especially the Osc tuning takes some work to properly replicate it. Also in the envelopes small differences could make a hearable difference.

Anyway if we talk about Diva it could mostly sound like a proper Minimoog (while not as close as The Legend) but the parameter ranges are totally off. Replicating patch sheets 1:1 will easily fail there and replicating patches from The Legend there will need some serious tweaking and fine tuning.
I will soon try this with some patches i created for The Legend.

Arturia Mini V3 in terms of parameter ranges seems to be closer to The egend and Monark but still more tweaking is necessary there (not as much as with Diva).

FWIW i currently own all 4 plugins i just talked about. Some years ago i had reprogrammed the patch sheets with Monark alraedy but the result in The Legend seems to be better partly also due to taking more time for fine tuning and Richard at Synapse Audio had double checked the fine tuning too.

As mentioned above with patches of The Legend that use certain advanced features like e.g. 12dB or BPF modes it could be a problem or impossible to replicate with other plugins (Monark has no 24dB BPF, Diva no BPF modes and Mini V3 no 12dB LPF and no BPF modes).

Had it long time ago but did not really like it. Only have Arturia Mini V as part of V-Collection 5 but would not really buy as a seperate product.
Same with Monark that i first bought as a seperate plugin but since last year have as part of Komplete 10.
Currently i would not buy it as a seperate product as The Legend completely replaces it for me (even i others here got a different opinion).

So currently from existing emulations i would only keep The Legend and Diva (Diva also as it could do a lot more beyond the Minimoog modules includingo mixing modules of different synths).

Buying a real Minimoog Model D again would be only an option for me now if i had so much money that i have no idea how to spend it. For less money than for this you could currently get a second hand Alesis Andromeda.

This thread helped me to finally add some members to my ignore list including e.g. AnX and fluffy.

The thread now looks much better for me that way when browsing trough it and this will be helpful for my health in the future...

No offense Fluff, but you really can be a royal PITA. I'm just immune to you by now. In fact, I'm immune to all the PITAs since the New Years. I just don't let anything bother me anymore unless I see somebody giving another member a hard time. That still ticks me off. But me personally, eh. Just don't care what people say to me anymore. Which is why I had no trouble posting the patches I uploaded to DropBox here. I was expecting some ragging. Oddly, there was none, which really surprised me. I guess people realize they can't get to me anymore and so they didn't bother.

Yeah, life is good when you just don't give a crap anymore.

But yeah, you can be a real royal PITA.

That's funny and odd, because I am actually rather friendly here towards both of you, which is not easy, given what I actually think about you at times  But I am a friendly guy, so I try to keep that to myself...
