Got the Behringer UMC1820 in last Thursday and have been setting everything up around it (routing differs quite a bit from the Scarlett). Pretty happy with the results.
Today wrote a AHK script to automatically move the different Reason windows (mixer and rack) to the dedicated screens. Reason saves their positions correctly, but Windows stupidly decides to move them back to the main screen after loading

CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.

Been working on/off with the Spotykach. It is in a beta mode through and through which is not quite what I expected at purchase, but stuck with it as I learned more in that same pre-order phase.
I think it’s going to turn out great in the end, but as I already do beta testing for some others and that hardware either came free or nicely discounted, it’s just not as fun after paying full price.
The nice bit is that I think this is going to kill my wants for buying a cassette based 4track. they’re fun, but having lived with those and wanting more it’s even better not going backwards.
2 decks to speed up/slow down and apply some similar granular level tools that are already possible with Morphagene, is going to be crazy to use alongside Morphagene.
Once it’s bug free and fully featured It’ll be a beast (or so I hope).

I made a dub techno track. Sorta, I had recorded the B2600 saws (tuned so they were a chord) into my Echo Cinematic, then the standard BD through a LP filter. But last night I recoded the Behringer Edge through the Specravox. A recording of some of the steps, then panned hard left, another recoding of the steps skipped the first time panned hard right all the while turning knobs…
Anyway that was the final result, I messed around experimenting for quite a while before that. Having an LFO control the tempo is fun too.

sorry to hear its been a bit dampened by the beta testing as a customer, but it does look like it will be a great tool once its done, and you get to suggest stuff, so you can hopefully get it even better!!!
im glad i didnt jump in, more so because i need the cash for a new computer still, than the beta state. just wasnt the right time for me.

Moved a whole load of modules from my Doepfer cases into a Behringer Go, filling it except for an Oneiroi-sized space and 2hp for an AIS stompbox adaptor I havent built yet.
I may revise what's in there, but after removing the ProjectMix and moving a lot of things around, its a first stab at a 'right in front of me' droneish-focussed rack. The Bugmod and the NiftyCase full of Dreadbox Chromatics are beside it, and there's space to comfortably sit about 3 boxes the size of the Elmyra2 in front of it. So the Elmyra2 is in front of it.
I also bought a new 10-keyless keyboard for the DAW so I could free up a bit more of that deskspace.

There’s usually a compromise in the buying process and you have to hope that compromise doesn’t come back to haunt you later.
I might be joining the buying a new interface crowd. My 18i20 (3rd gen) is acting up too.

Spent a few hours last night trying some ideas for my latest song and they all just sorta failed. This song is about 80% complete, but I just can't seem to push it over the finish line. I'm going to try a few more things this evening, but if I don't get it close to completion, I'll probably just let it be a few days and see if a fresh perspective helps.

I wound up recording 7 more tracks in 4 days while I had some time offfoosnark wrote: Fri Jul 25, 2025 12:31 am I have 45 minutes of music but I kind of just want to keep working on this.
Over to mastering, artwork, writeup and release...
I got my OBNE Dark Star V3 on the weekend and have been playing with that. Like Slöer it's a SPIN FV-1 based extremely ambient stereo reverb, and both even have light blue on dark blue artwork. But given that, they couldn't be more different. Slöer is really smooth and pretty, it does woozy or wobbly modulation, and every setting on it is in some kind of sweet spot unless you just go too hard with the modulation -- it reminds me a bit of a Valhalla reverb. Dark Star is more lo-fi and gritty, with bit crushing or overdrive, fairly crude granular pitch shifting, and the potential for howling infinite feedback, and even if you don't go for the pitch shifting or distortion it takes a little dialing in to sit well with some material. Together I feel like I have bases pretty well covered (....not that I don't have a whole stack of great reverb plugins anyway and keep turning to about 4 of them).
But the ironic thing is, after picking up those pedals, for my next project I want to use a lot more negative space, more articulation and silence rather than constant overlapping drones or reverb-flooded ambience.

Fixed a problem with Meg (which had I moved into the Go rack where the Oneiroi will go) which had shut up.
Turned out I needed to replace a failed socket, nothing was holding the jackplug in place on the output socket; luckily I have (old?) thin-leg Thonkiconns as well as the thicker-legged (newer?) ones.
Fired some stuff through it, then it, Nijel and Scrat, making a f**king racket as I went.

Well yesterday the screen on my new Artemis suddenly went dark.
I tried everything to get it on again and finally sent an email to Perfect Circuit support.
I guess I am losing the great pads I had made.

iterations and reiterations...
after the video, panicked, i had honestly thought the 15th??? (still waiting to find out what ive missed instead...) although id done the work, still had to write up my "expectations"
wrote some garbled mess, attached file, send! yay.
thursday, get up, load file in to morphagene... too loud
rush to sort it and get another file ready, test this one before sending...
all fine, until i read the mail id sent on wednesday
what the hell vurt? have you never communicated with another human before???
work on refining my patch communication skills...
friday, got the mail sorted, sent it off!
then noticed the mail id sent wednesday, didnt even have the wav, it had one of the samplitude files
happy i got it done, but even happier it forced me to sort out a better way of noting down my patches

I sent the iteration submission in at 1 am Thursday morning. This time I went for percussive loop.
I had an overly complicated patch, but was having fun. The only bad part is that my submission is not what I wanted.
I hit record on BlueBox for 20 minutes with all kinds of fun things to pick and choose just 15 seconds, but it didn’t save to the SD. I saw it visually in BlueBox, but it was just gone once I opened the SD on the computer.
So, had to re-record and attempt to recreate what was all spontaneous fun.
Oh well. Still a fun exercise.

I will be doing my very first live stream today at 5pm PST. Somewhat ironic that 'Patching @3am' is happening at 5pm but I guess it will be 3am somewhere!
I've been working on this in the background for a bit and it's coming together now. Today's stream is just a public test run. You won't hear me talking, just playing with some synthesizers.

Nice one. Going to check it out. Setting alarms now (because my brain is toast and won’t remember).justin3am wrote: Sat Aug 16, 2025 5:13 pm I will be doing my very first live stream today at 5pm PST. Somewhat ironic that 'Patching @3am' is happening at 5pm but I guess it will be 3am somewhere!
