I like the first.

Oh, just in case you're reading, Luftrum, I've paid and sent the email yesterday. Thanks for arranging this charity :)

OK, just posting, I know Luftrum is busy...

Apparently I won a license of Reaper with the bid of 60 bucks.. (not present in the orig post)

I see the OP was updated but without my bid... I'm ready to transfer payment, just confirm! :) (sorry, this is my 1st time participating to this charity event, not sure how it goes)

If not in OP then you didn't win.

Edit: I see your bid on post at
viewtopic.php?p=6908549#p6908549
and it's a valid bid - but for some reason was never counted. It should have bumped the lowest bid which was $55.

At this point don't know if Luftrum can help or not.

Quote from an earlier Lufrum post,
Is absolutely the least of my concerns at the moment! To be honest, I won't dig into ANY equal bids where one was pushed out when another one should have taken the place! If I made a mistake then my bad, I am sorry... but all the bids are final unless I wrote you up for something you never bid on in the first place and why? Because I can't announce a winner and then take it from him after he have paid and then write Save the Children Denmark asking them to refund the first bid bid because someone else had an equal bid before and then re-enter the new equal bids in the spreadsheet and on the web... this is #%!$ nitpicking, come on! I got well over 12 hours of manual typing in front of me, so this is waaaaaay down the list of my priorities right now. :x

Rant over.

Thing is it's not an equal bid situation (or I 'd say 'too bad, so sad - next time up your bid'). In this case it appears that 3ee bid more than the lowest bid.

Should have pointed it out before the auction ended really. The bid was made on Monday, so was overlooked in many updates. Its too late now I reckon

Before the auction has ended I was noted as one of the winning bids... but them taken out by mistake after update.

I even pointed it out 1-2 hours after the bidding has ended (page 111) ... I just didn't want to be pushy since I had known Luftrum was busy and I guessed he would have certainly looked into it -the morning- after and correct the OP..

This kind of situation is just unfortunate and it's a pity that it can happen. If it would have happened to me I would obviously be disappointed as well. On the other hand this charity auction is a very manual and labour intense thing to handle and misstakes will be made, and I don't see how Luftrum could manage the auction differently. His point though is valid because at this point the guy who bid $55 (or what the lowest bid was) might have gone thru the whole payment and mailing process, thinking he/she is a winner. It's quite hard to reverse that once it's done.

A smart software guy could create a special auction site where every bidder placed their own bid and where it is updated in real time. But it would be quite a task just for an auction that happens once a year. I think everyone just have to live with the fact that misstakes are made and the system is not perfect.

Not trying to incur more work, but what would be helpful is after the auction putting some indicator next to that winners name that payment has been received. Last thing people want to do (me anyway) is pester, but having an easy way to confirm payment has been received would be great. It would alleviate any worrying considering after 48 hours that item is offered to the next highest bidder if payment isn't received. Email is far from 100% reliable. I'm happy being patient after that once I know everything is 'in process'. :D

Example:

Softube Volume 1 bundle #2. High bidder: sl1200mk2 $250 (paid)

Thank for the consideration and again for all the effort and work involved organizing this!

Hey 3ee, did you know that you can make up to $20.000 revenue a year as individual or business with the discounted reaper license at $60 too? So for most people it is not so important to have the commercial license even if they intend to use reaper commercially. I would recommend to just get a regular license for your $60. The feature set of the program itself is the same and the price is the same as your intended donation too. When you reach the $20.000 just upgrade to the commercial license.

Hi 3ee,

I read your pm, replying to you here.

I am sorry if there was a mistake, I have already made paypal transfer yesterday morning, hours before your posts.

I am very far from making at least $20000 with music (I wish one day I could), a discounted licence would fit well for me now.

If you really need a commercial licence, we could find a solution?

Thank you for everyone that making this charity possible.

I appreciate the effort involved in this. Thank you all!

One thing I would like to suggest for the future is to alphabetize the items up for bid.

It would facilitate the process for shopper/bidders. After all, even though this wonderful event would not be possible without Luftrum, Luftrum helpers and all of the donators but the bidders/buyers are the source of the funds and spending money is more difficult when you cannot easily find what you are looking for.

Again, thank you all!

The current system has the benefit that new items are easy to find, since they're added at the bottom. Also, ctrl+F is your friend if you know what you're looking for.
