Okay folks,

I just did my bit and joined for a third time. Before I did so, I downloaded one of the Construction Kits as one of my 6x1 freebies just to make sure those packs might be useful to me.

The answer is a resounding YES. Although, my original inclination was to stick my nose up at a Construction Kit, I have to admit that I see the potential for squeezing some good (and original) juice out of these. The Construction Kit packs have 2 different folders of presets. One set has ALL the parts of a Construction Kit preset spread out over different notes on your keyboard. The other set has Loop Slice versions of each loop in each Construction Kit, so that you can play the loops and invent your own brand new creations.

A really cool thing about playing some of the Construction Kit packs in Loop Slice format is that you can invent unique parts that you may never have come up with otherwise. If you are playing the Loop Slice for a Synth line, for example, you can find yourself creating something very interesting by playing around with the keys, since notes are not where you would normally expect them to be on the keyboard. You can be inspired, and end up with something sounding really cool and original just through a little experimenting.

So once, you wrap you mind around using the Construction Kit packs as yet another creative/inspirational tool, you will want to grab all of them. I am gonna take all 6. :-)

I'd pick World Instruments, simply because you can ALWAYS use extra percussion in your library. The vocal presets might be less useful, but only you can decide on which type of instruments you would use most in your music.

Stupid quick question that's probably been answered in this 100+ page thread (somewhere...:scared: I think...) but suppose I buy the full SampleTank XL... can I use the SampleTank XT player from this group buy to load the XL library rather than having to install two different SampleTank versions?

Post

I did the same thing in reverse - I had SampleTank L installed, and I just installed the sounds from this group-buy without having to install the XT player. Peter from IK has said that the actual VSTi is identical; the only difference between L, XL, and XT is the set of sounds.

It won't matter either way. SampleTank XT is the exact same version of SampleTank without the XL soundset. You will end up with the same version of SampleTank on your system no matter which you install or reinstall.

Ceej and I posted during the very same minute!

We're at 4050. :-)

And a big thank you to fludlyt for the epointz!

Buy from esoundz for the extra library, and remember to refer someone when you sign up. It means $5 for you and the person you refer.
I thought it was great how you've been helping out barbecutie! :)

I picked Squids Tron Exclusive Extras as my first bonus pack but I'm clueless as to the second choice... sooo many treats on offer :D

Zedd hit it on the mark with the "Construction Kits"

I'm in for my 3rd pack.
I'm missed these altogether on 1st and 2nd pack.

Ok here is what I would like to do...

I want to convert these for playing inside Spectrasonics Stylus RMX.

I purchased times x2 on the group buy, so right now i am looking at 12 downloads (6 for 1 x 2)... (so far :hihi: )

Which of these drum and percussion darlings would work well inside RMX guys?

Which ones would u choose for this?

Looking for rock, alt and blues styles.

I do want the grooves, correct???

Anyone???

Zero, I'm afraid. These GB loops are in SampleTank format and not REX format which you would require for Stylus RMX.

If you ordered through eSoundz, you can pick 2 RAW packs (which contain REX, Apple and Wave versions) as your freebies.

The real deal you wanted was the recent No-Brainer deal at AudioMIDI where each of those RAW packs were available for $5 each (i.e. 4 for $20). But don't worry... they'll come around again. Maybe just enjoy the SampleTank versions for now, since they are also worth having and can do different things. I have both versions, and have no regrets. :-)

Zedd, didn't you get 2 because you ordered 2-3 times? Those who order once would get only one eSoundz RAW pack, correct? But it sounds like you are having fun with your ST-format construction kits as well, which is nice to hear...

I only ordered through eSoundz once, for the Wild Card freebie, since I had everything on the freebie list expect for the Drum Capsule. I joined twice more through IK and used my Jam Points, which essentially means joining for only $25 each additional time.

I don't want to discourage anyone from taking advantage of Squids' special offer, but if you are on the fence about joining again, and don't realize that you can get a guaranteed 6 packs for $25 using IK Jam Points, I strongly suggest you do so. At this point the more people that realize this can be a more affordable joining option, the more likely we'll hit 7x1.

Loving them. :-)

And I would not even use these Construction Kits in REX format, since I want to play the Loop Slices to invent original grooves.

I have them both. World Instruments is my pick... WITHOUT QUESTION!

Have to agree with blueman there. World Instruments and Vocal Collection were my first two picks, and World Instruments is just a better pack. The Vocal Collection has some decent stuff, but a lot of it is kind of variations on the same idea. I was also disappointed that there weren't any beat-box standalone instruments, just the sliced loops. (Yes, I probably should have realized that from the patch list.)

World Instruments takes a breadth-not-depth approach; obviously you're not getting massive multi-velocity-layer representations of everything in there. But is VERY broad. Lots of variety and some inspiring patches. The didgeridoo drones alone have to be worth the $8.33.

Is the Wild Card bonus library referring to the SampleTank Rare Vintage Collection Vol. 1 Squids listed here? I've got the Vintage Keys Collection, SampleArp and SampleOB so though I'd double check before I download it and find twins. :)
