Has your isp actually got everything ironed out?
Seems like there hasn't been a glitch for days.
Two days in a row!!! I'm hoping this is it. Each day now the workload actually seems to be diminishing. If we hit 21 days in a row without a major glitch, I reckon it will be time to start publicising the station.

At that point, all of the daily themed shows will kick in and we release our first EMCradio compilation to be hosted on http://www.archive.org/details/netlabels

Anyone interested in being on one of the compilations should head over to http://the-auditorium.net/viewforum.php?f=56
for more info.

We have pretty much the first release compiled but are already working on the second and third.

Meanwhile the radio program scripts are working away. One or two still crash the machine but its a development machine so it does not affect the radio proper.

And the site is pretty much in place. The various styles CSS and all that will be tweaked over a period of time to give a more cohesive look. And the various info pages were rushed to test content categories. These will all be formatted properly as will the browser discepencies.

Last but not least the abilty to rate tunes to give them more precedence has been fine tuned. The more you request a tune the more it is likely to be played over the entire day, ie a tune with 100% gets played about 6 times a day, most tunes are at 50% which means they might get played once a week. As a song is played it goes down .5% when it is requested it goes up 5%.
The radio also picks the least played song and least played artist at least once a show.

Commercial tunes are not requestable.
You can only request 5 times every five minutes and each request must be for a different act.

Top 10 requests are on the front page.

Still have work to fix the dynamic links on the playlists pages

Where is the link to make requests?

Yes, this is cool. I can have this on in the background at work and sometimes I will hear something from someone I recognize from k-v-r. Nice!

Yeah, it's nice to suddenly realize vurt is playing out of the radio!

Odd thing is: every single time I've heard one of my songs it's scared me -
I always have an initial couple seconds of thinking that my PC has freaked
out and randomly started playing music from my hard drive for some reason.

I think I'll go request something progtronic.

Well, then you will just scare anyone else who is listening.

Hehe you think that you've obviously not listened to my 10 minute song. ;)

All systems still seem to be "go" as NASA would say.

Is this with internet explorer, it produces errors that other browsers don't so I'm not going to look at them till everything else is done.

I'm moving everything over to www.emcradio.com but there shouldn't be errors.

can you post the links that throw up errors, if its not IE?

Indeed, it's IE.

Things are starting to slow down for me. Most of the work is done. So I will be going over the code removing all the unnecessary scripts(there are a lot of them) and generally tidying up over the next few days. The top ten request script doesn't work but only shows errors on IE. I will attack this when the code is in a better state.

After that, the remaining work is the Graphics (which is not my department), and mp3 tagging,(which will take forever).

For the links to work in the database (ie the playing now and request pages) they have to be input as mp3 tags.

Here is a suggestion: Allow people to immediately click on on the name of the music playing to leave a review and (maybe a rating to be used to push more popular songs to the front).

Good idea. It will take some time to implement. It would require a new larger database. But it would add more immediate interactivity.

In the meantime as I said, the mere act of requesting a tune adds to its rating and pushes it forward. Over a period of time this should rid the station of a large part of its randomness.

So request away.

Heads up.
The now playing screen seems to be a constant bone of contention. It seems to break, one way or another, on a regular basis.
Currently, for the past couple of days (or more), it's not been refreshing - even with a forced refresh.
It's been displaying Dereks Truck Band as the current tune for days, with Haydxn's 'Wash' 4th down the list.
