In fact, I thought his umbrage was simply misplaced. He seemed offended that those involved with experimental music were implied to be failed musicians. If you want to know who he was specifically referring to, why don't you ask him. I simply wasn't accepting responsibility for something I never said, and then expanded on the category of experimental music. Put another way, if jazz and classical music are 3 percent of the music marketplace on a good day, experimental music is simply rounded off to nothing.

You are the only one in this thread talking about the marketplace. That is a barometer of nothing to me. When discussing originality, the word "marketplace" never occurs to me. Actually, I honestly believe I have never typed (or spoken) it before just now.

Agreeing with or even entertaining Lunadick's comment about failed musicians/expermimental implies that your opinion is similar too. I quoted you both actually, but you jumped in right way. Why is that? No need to answer; we all know why.


As usual, you start talking about the mainstream and commercial viability. I don't give a f**k about that shit. I think you'll find that many experimental artists feel the same way, otherwise they would choose different musical paths eh? Its not that they can't write a three chord pop song, its that they don't wan't to write one...such artists express themselves as they see fit, not for the benefit of commercial gain or for critics. "Marching to the beat of their own drummer", not outer acceptance. Hence, one of the differences between leaders and followers...

Now, instead of talking in circles some more, why not answer Shamman's question? You can't. You've already admitted basing what you're saying around what I'm saying by your response to him. Enough word games...
