The other big drawbacks are of course the inability to multitask: so you can't drag across text from your epub document to quote in a text document or email, for example. No more copying chunks of wikipedia into your homework

And without Flash, is it right to assume many websites won't display correctly??
Flash is a pile of shite. It's old technology that should have been killed off 10 years ago.

And it will be killed off soon enough with HTML 5

The only thing related to Flash that has improved is Actionscript, and that one only comes to shine in Flex business applications.

Name me one good thing about Flash? Every Flash game is shit and every website in Flash is unusable. So that leaves you with Flash video, and that will die a timely death soon enough too. It's no wonder there's only a handful of hand-held devices that support Flash. And in all cases it's only a limited, old version.

Returning to the thread to call bullshit on that.

Also, isn't Farmville Flash-based? I hate the sight of that thing, so yeah, that one's shit, but almost everyone I know plays it.

Lets not forget Java - thats not supported either. You remember that - the platform independant system with 1000s of existing apps.

Great, one game. Not quite pulling the average up, but 1 to 100.000.000.000 isn't a bad start.

I don't think you answered the question. If a website has flash animations on it - and let's face it, plenty do - how will this display on an iPad??

Won't that mean that yet more web content won't display correctly?

Flash animation?
What would the web be without it?

Every sane person on the planet uses Flashblock plugins to block that pile of shite, but all of a sudden it becomes the corner stone of a great web experience. Get real for f**k's sake

Some Java Applets for midi/ music :

Now, if that was hacked into the ipad - it might get somewhere. But Apple want you to pay. These cam be run on any mobile device. What will ipad do for musicians? It will lock them into thinking that Apple is the only way of doing things.
